I never said that though. I said some were.

but even 20 years ago people compared their computer with each other. i remember the discussion which were like "i have a 486 and you only 386 lololol.

and i remember when people bragged about their new voodoo2 and whatever in school and the first guy who had a notebook was like god for some people.

I know and it's kinda dumb though isn't it? When you think about it?

I'm not talking about people who genuinely have a passion in the hobby of customizing their PCs, I'm talking about the whole superiority thing.

but it's the same for consoles. n64 was called  a fogmachine in my class and everyone who had a nintendo console said to the playstation guys "loading loading loading"

the pc is the most powerful machine if you spend enough, that's probably the reaosn why especially pc guys talk a lot about that but it's not so much better with consoles.

The diff is that with a weaker PCs I didn't try to play games my PC couldn't support. I'd play games that were for more lower-end machines. So I don't know if that applies here.

not sure if i understand what you say with that post but isn't that the same nowadays?  some people don't care about anything, they have a pc for their daily stuff and play the games they can, some people like to play most stuff and have a bit better pc and some want to have always the best and buy a monster pc. i really don't know if that was different 15 years ago. the only difference i see is that many people who don't need a very strong pc have a notebook or even tablet nowadays and only those who really need a "real pc" still have one.

so you could say that percentual, more people with a desktop pc look if it is a monster rig nowadays but only because those who had a desktop as well in the past use notebooks or tablets nowadays.

What I meant by that post is that you can't play N64 games unless you own one, but you can play PC games even if it's low end, so you get the PC experience just not the full one (which includes high-end games). That's what I meant by "it's different", since you still get the PC experience. Whereas with N64 or PS you get the Nintendo experience or the Playstation experience, one being low-end the other being higher-end.

I just mean that I'm ok with a lower-end PC and lower-end games (like Warcraft, LoL, Torchilight) and don't necessarily need the high-end for my enjoyment in general. The master-race thing is something I personally don't get.

It doesn't shit all over my argument at all. I was mentioning that when the focus is purely on graphics it's in the wrong place. Sure someone who doesn't have a "master-ultimate" rig may not enjoy certain great games, that's a given, but my OP and story don't contradict that, I'm aware of it. I'm just saying that growing up I was more like SvennoJ and loved my PC games to bits. I find myself unable to relate to the Master Race sentiment that's, for example, in your sig. I shit all over that. ;)


Really man? You take a fun and sarcastic comment out of my post, ignore all of the other meaningful stuff I said, and downtalk? Really? 

This "PC Master Race" is a silly moniker, and those of us who PC game don't actually only care about graphics. You're not shitting on anything.

Age of Empires, Roller coaster tycoon, Myst, The Sims. These are the types of games that made me love PC gaming during the 90s and early 2000s.

And now minecraft.

So I agree. Graphics have been of little to no importance to me for PC.
