The diff is that with a weaker PCs I didn't try to play games my PC couldn't support. I'd play games that were for more lower-end machines. So I don't know if that applies here.

not sure if i understand what you say with that post but isn't that the same nowadays?  some people don't care about anything, they have a pc for their daily stuff and play the games they can, some people like to play most stuff and have a bit better pc and some want to have always the best and buy a monster pc. i really don't know if that was different 15 years ago. the only difference i see is that many people who don't need a very strong pc have a notebook or even tablet nowadays and only those who really need a "real pc" still have one.

so you could say that percentual, more people with a desktop pc look if it is a monster rig nowadays but only because those who had a desktop as well in the past use notebooks or tablets nowadays.
