Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox 720: EA & Microsoft to announce exclusivity deal at April reveal – rumour

VG247

Xbox 720 could see timed-exclusivity of EA titles and DLC going into the next generation, sources have claimed. A deal is expected to be announced between both parties at Microsoft’s console reveal event, currently rumoured for April 26th.

The rumoured event will allegedly see a deal announced between EA and Microsoft, that could give Xbox 720 / Durango first dibs on all EA titles for a while.

CVG’s sources have told the site that the terms of the deal are not concrete, but given EA’s approach of launching games across all formats the deal will likely amount to timed exclusives, rather than Xbox 720-only titles. Timed-exclusive DLC could also be on the cards.

We now know that both the EA-published IP from Respawn Entertainment will appear at E3 2013 and that Battlefield 4 has gone next-gen. Could these games launch as timed Xbox 720 exclusives?

We’ll keep our ears to the ground on this one, but I did find it odd that EA didn’t appear at Sony’s PS4 announcement last week, given its track record of appearing at every showcase under the sun.

I wonder what it could be?

I hope it's just timed DLC if anything

Sony is screwed if this is anything significant.

If MS wants to take Europe, getting next-gen FIFA exclusive for 2-3 months would put them in the driver's seat.

It is odd that EA did not appear at the PS4 event at all.

That could be huge for xbox! :D Even if it's only a few months of timed exclusives it would give them an edge. We've all already seen this with the Wii U.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

C'mon, EA is not that dumb.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

That would be huge if true. Its almost too huge. We'll have to wait and see.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Don't believe it. EA has always seemed to be on good terms with Sony. It would take A LOT of money from Microsoft to get anything exclusive beyond early DLC. Also this goes against the rumors that Microsoft is focusing on media features to get the upper hand against Sony.

Actually accepting huge money bags from Microsoft makes a lot of sense for EA.

Neither the PS4/720 will have huge userbases this fall (more precisely 0 to start with), so it's not such a big deal to them for at least the first months if all EA fans are channelled into one platform (the 720) instead of the two.

It's not like the PS4 is the PS3 where it has 70 million users that EA would be ignoring, this is ignoring maybe a userbase of 4-5 million for the first few months ... not even ignoring really, if it's about staggered exclusives.

i'm not buying it

ea has alwys been pro sony

Well Microsoft just happens to have *a lot* of money.

They spent $8 billion on Skype and didn't even blink, lol. Sony is not even close to that categorey, Microsoft has monstrous amounts of cash.
