Persona 3 and 4

-Great story
-Awesome characters
-Addicting gameplay (for me anyway)
-Best OST in gaming history (I'm listening to New Days from Persona 4 right now!)

Before I playd Persona I only played racing games, pokemon, and jak and daxter.Now i'm actually playing other games like Uncharted, Farcry, inFamous, and Ni No Kuni because I look for games with good stories. Honestly its hard for me to play pokemon anymore because of how good persona is lol hopefully X/Y will change that.

For me, it's Final Fantasy IV.

Until that game, most of the game I played were arcade in style, with little to no real story.
Final Fantasy IV changed that by bringing in a really deep narrative, with strong moments of emotional impact.
In fact, the game had it all. Great gameplay, great graphics, great music, great story, great challenge...

When I played this on the SNES, at the age of 11, that's when I finally saw the huge potential that gaming could have, and it's also the moment I got hooked to the franchise.

Tales of Symphonia was the game that changed a friend of mine forever xD I think he has beaten it 100%, twice.

OT -

The game that changed my view was Super Mario Sunshine as it introduced me to 3D Plattforming. That game also took me into other games like Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, Jak and other genres.

Another one is Castlevania: Cirlce of the Moon that defined the 2D Plattforming genre to me, which is the reason I have not buyed a pure 2D plattformer in a while.

Phantasy Star on the Sega Master System. It not only was the best looking and deepest console rpg when released it was the first JRPG released in America. Anyone that has not played this is not a true jrpg fan imho. Before PS I wasn't sucked into a games' story as completely as any book or movie. I got it on my 8th birthday in February of 89.
