Forums - Gaming - The One Game that Changed How You Viewed Games Forever

Pokemon Blue was my defining game. It essentially taught me what games were capable of, and to this day, I often find myself mentally comparing games to how they stand up against or improve upon what Pokemon did. Even when I play games older than Pokemon, I think things like "This is how Pokemon should have done it" or "Good thing Pokemon fixed this problem."

Let me put it this way: Pokemon was the first game where I ever took advantage of Saving.

Godfather: Blackhand Edition.

I was a PC gamer from the dawn of PC's. To me consoles were always a child's toy (and my kids had (N64, GC, PS2, 360). The only time I played them was to play with my kids or help them through a difficult section. If I wanted a 'real' game I'd play on my PC. Although I did enjoy certain games (Smash Bros, Burnout, GTA:SA, Kirby 64) I always preferred the PC experience.

Playing Wii Sports was fun but it was Godfather which combined the fun, visercalness and accessibility of motion/IR controls (finally able to shoot on a console without needing a 'lock-on' button!) with a deep and compelling game. That's what finally got me to purchase a console for myself.

Omg, I can relate to this point too!

LittleBigPlanet 1 & WipEout HD Fury, oddly enough, were the two games that brought me back from 4 years of WoW addiction.

Super Mario 64 without a doubt. It changed everything.

lol alot of people have said that ;p

But I have never played in any of the official servers - only private servers and all of them are dead/wiped, so its not like I have anything to go back to otherwise I would want to restart ;p.

Ragnarok Online and World of Warcraft - it was a great experience at first but turned into a hell hole of repetitiveness and grinding for the same things again and again even at high rates.

Havent played a MMO since May 2012. My true love is with console gaming :)

Yeah if you don't watch youself in WoW its easy to get burned out.  I've had episodes of "why am I here" sometimes.

I just love raiding too much.

Super Mario 64.

Also FFVII here. I had never played an RPG game before. Let alone a game with such awesome cutscenes, music, characters, and locations. I was hooked and I spent so much time as a kid trying to draw Cloud and get his spikey hair right lol.

The Pokemon Series is the series that got me into gaming, so that. (I know it's not a game, deal with it!)
