PC started next gen with Crysis in 2007.

I never said it did. But Guerilla Games CHOSE 30FPS based on when they started this projuect which was 2 years ago. That was back when PS4 had only 2GB of GDDR5. If GG wanted to, they could make Killzone 4 60FPS, 1080p. But they're not because of the reasons I just gave. PS4 is able to do 1080p 60FPS...it just depends on what developers vision is for their games. Are they pushing the graphics? Are they aiming for that Call of Duty 60FPS smoothness? |
Of course they can do 60 fps but then the game will look worse. Increasing fps is not a big thing while development but keeping all the same stuff at 60fps like 30 fps is a big task and most probably not possible by now. Why would they choose 30fps when 60fps would easily be possible?

Too bad they took gameplay back a decade with Crysis in 2007.

Because it's easier. It requires less optimization and considering this will be a launch game, I think they chose the right thing.
For over £1000 on gpus alone, I would damn well hope I was playing at that level...however that isn't next Gen. Next gen looks better (Unreal 4 or Unreal Samaritan)

Don't see your point with that sentence. Crysis wasn't a genre changer, but a great FPS that introduced new features to the genre like the Nanosuit which allowed you to play in whichever way you wanted, effectively changing the game from a stealth FPS to a run'n gun, and also big maps that allowed you to complete objectives in many ways. Also, story wise, it was very good IMO, specially after you start fighting the aliens, unfortunately Crysis 2 decided to scrap all the great gameplay elements and story in the first game in favour of simplified gameplay, linear levels and generic sci-fi story. People who say the game only has graphics absolutely didn't played the game or don't like FPSs at all.

Again with the people saying PS4 can't do the ALMIGHTY 60fps at 1080p. It's a developer choice. If they chose to do 720p 60fps people would say then that PS4 can't do 1080p 30fps. It's a never ending battle with people. If Wii U is able to do 1080p 30fps then PS4 and nexbox for that matter will easily be able to do 1080p 60fps.

you can optimize how much you want the amount of polygons is only half. let's take a fictional console that is capable of rendering 30 millions of polygons/sec. this means 1 million per frame with 30fps but only 500k with 60fps. there are no hidden switches in hardware that they can activate tomake
it render more. I'm not saying ps4 and nextbox can't do 1080p with 60fps but I feel many games won't and to me stable 30fps is a better target than 60fps with framedrops.

30fps is good enough for me.
As for resolution, the Wii's 480p only bothered me in a few titles that combined a lack of AA with styles that accentuated the jaggies. Then again, I actually sit at the recommended viewing distance, unlike most people I know. ;)
Couple of things; Crysis games have pretty bad animations, they stick out in the overall visual quality and they also have extremely strange physics, we're talking Skyrim strange here.
They're certainly good looking, no one can deny that but the biggest problem with the Crysis games is the horrible, bland, gimmicky gameplay and the overall shittyness of the writing, music, and pretend sandbox environments (no, don't swim around to that side of the island, we're gonna shoot missiles from a military vessel at you. This ledge can only be jumped by using Power on the nanosuit, this is the only way to force you to use the different modes since they're mostly useless).
Crysis is the most overrated series in the 7th generation, and that's really saying something. Its like they sacked all the people with actual brains after Far Cry and replaced them with rendering monkeys who think of nothing but post-processing and layer effects.
