Forums - Gaming - IGN layoffs - 1UP, Gamespy and UGO shutting down

1UP is one of my favourite gaming sites

Around the Network

Truth be told I haven't visited any of those sites (that are closing) in years. Not surprised, probably long overdue.

Fuck.

1UP was one of my favorite sites to visit. I've been posting blogs over there for a while--met some great people there too. It's one of the few gaming sites I enjoyed going on, because I didn't have to brace myself for an endless wave of trolling fanboys. Not to mention how the writing on it's parent site is trash in comparison.

Really sad to see it go. :(

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

:D

I've been reading 1up since way back in '05, back when it was jointed up with EGM. Really going to miss its dedicated journalistic focus of video games and the culture built up around it. A lot of talent there, though, and I'm sure most will land on their feet. I hope so at least.

I was going to say something mean about 1-UP but apparently a lot of people liked it....I hate to see anyone get laid off of course, I just was never fond of that site, I wish the people affected the best of luck.

I was introduced to 1 UP, when one of my American friends discussed about it during work. Sad to hear they are shutting down.

I just started watching IPL for Mike Ross' Neighborhood, hope they don't go under.

You can't spell "IGN layoffs" without IGN.

Epic comment.

too many people with ad blockers nowadays. working without income is not so easy for most people or their companies who have to pay them,

The hell is Askmen?

I was wondering the same thing. Then found myself regretting googling it a few seconds later.
