Forums - Sony - Was anybody else underwhelmed by the PS4 event?

Off topic but anyone else notice the new Play ads are a vast improvement over past ads from Sony. Not sure if it's the new marketing company they have hired, but I notice a different. They actually make you excited about Playstation.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

I wasn't underwhelmed but I also wasn't wowed.. The PS3 reveal was better imo, sure it had the bath ducks but the games shown back then was more impressive then then at this event.. it was good but not amazing.. great graphics but meh at the actual titles..

also the emphasing on the social media aspect is a bit over the top especially when you don't have a women presenting or more female friendly games diplayed.. like they don't play games.. i don't get that from a marketing perspective..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

While I admit this wasn't meant to be equivalent to an E3, I have to admit I was also disappointed. Fanboys are the ones claiming it was the "best thing ever." Please, it was very vague IMO. I'm more excited for E3 announcements that actually showcase more detail (and also show the console).

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

- Killzone Shadow Fall
- Infamous Second Son
- Watch Dogs PS4
- Knack (reminds me of Crash)

I'm pretty happy! plus seeing those tech demos where great! the only thing i didn't like was what Media Molicule showed.. LBP was so amazing and i don't even understand what there new game is? a music game? tbh LBP2 came out along time ago and they should have an almost finished product not this music crap. i hope they quickly turn this around.

Best part of the event for me was the 8gb GDDR5 ram, only thing worth hyping for I suppose.

Games showed were pretty much same old same old, atleast Killzone got color.

All the games shown just feel recycled, they're beautiful (especially that Killzone game) but where's the originality gone?... I just hope Sony Santa Monica's new IP isn't something generic and unimaginative, Sony must have high expectations of it to save it for E3 and I really hope Naughty Dog make another new IP that takes place in a fantasy setting.

The next God of War after Ascension will blow everything out in EPIC proportions. Confirmed.

Im not saying it was bad but I didnt really get excited either>  I'll go more into detail after I workout.  But I didn't really get that excited about anything they showed.  Watchdogs looks great though.  Killzone is beautiful.  But beyond that I was a little let down. And i did like the share button on the controller.  That could turn out to be pretty cool for recording games.

The whole Objective of this PlayStation conference was to ANNOUNCE the PS4 therefore if you were underwhelmed then you were never excited about the PS4 to begin with.

So here is the thing.  After they hyped the shit out of the 20th which everybody KNEW it would be the PS4 there wasnt one announcement that shocked or wowed me.  It wasnt bad, but it wasnt great.  It was just like oh cool, i got a little bit of new info and it seems relatively power so that is a big plus but none of these games are really interesting me either.  They did a few good things but a lot of the conference was kind of boring.  And they could have at leas tshowed the console.  That's a different approach to revealing a new console -_-  They did not cash in on all the hype in my opinion.  Good news though is that E3 has a chance of being good. But as ive said for months and months, I want something surprising like a new Ip.  not sequels to games that moderately interest me like KZ and InFamous.  Driveclub has potential though.  Ill wait to see what Naughty Dog and Santa Monica is doing which better be at E3

I think it was a great setup for E3 to make it more exciting in years. First time ever M$ and Sony releasing head to head in the next gen. Now the gloves are off. Lets get ready to RUMBLE!

Gamers can only win from this, competition will bring out the best in these companies, so i am hoping.
