Forums - Gaming - Will Google pay $1 billion to keep Bing from being the default iOS search engine?

Apple should pay to keep Bing away.

Apple will smash Google when it comes to deals, they dont like them a bit, it will be hard.

i wont be surprised if apple cames out with their own search engine, they already have maps although they lack way behind Bing/Google and specially Nokia maps.

Still, their tech, their rules.

Microsoft and Windows Phone could be a threat to Apple and the iPhone.....why would you use their search engine?
I know Google owns Android, but they are already established and competitive.....Microsoft isn't. So wouldn't it be in Apple's best interests to have the least amount of competitors?

There are much more factors than that though e.g. Apple desperately want MS Office to be available for the iPad, so MS could use this as a bargaining tool.

OT: I hope MS pays up and Bing becomes the default iOS search engine. I already use Bing as the search engine on my iPhone 5

they earn 5billions alone on Android ads so, they may earn some billions too in IOS, so I think the price is worthy.

Apple should do what they did with Maps, come up with their own search engine, make it super-duper shitty, then force it on everybody with the next iOS update!

It's quite a silly notion to think that these companies will pay a billion dollars for something that a user can change in 3 seconds.

Thats something people don't seem to understand around here. Data mining is huge money for these companies and in general...

A place like Lavalife and Ashley Madison makes more money off the data they sell to advertisers than its official service. All they do is tag your machine with a cookie and then turn around and say "ok, we got a male 24-30 years old, income of 60K and likes computers, hockey and dogs. Who wants to target ads to this guy?". And adertisers and publishers pay big money for this data.

This is the main benefit to having Google on iPhone. While they are unable to collect personal information, they do know what mobile users do and like on iphones which gives them behaviour targeting opportunities.

yeah i think google will.
