Forums - Microsoft - Xbox Live Counts Active Users! +46m are ACTIVE USERS - Not All-Time Members.

I just wish Sony tells us active accounts......they tell us "all time" account numbers. PS Plus numbers would be nice too

Screw Live numbers. Theyre pointless. The only numbers that matter are Gold Subscribers, Hardware and Software.

Silver members buy marketplace content, and likely purchase gold for a few months when a great game comes along

Gold and silver members alternate all the time, its not like its pay 100% of the year every year or nothing at all.

Op wreaks of a troll job. Kowenicki would have been a much better and civil author

I just wanted to say that many reports have been made about this thread and that all of the moderators that are currently online are eyeballing it.

Why are people reporting it?

it's pretty normal to count 8 months as active.. Hotmail/Live mail set your account inactive after 8,5 months.. Google does it at 9 months.. Twitter has a 6 month policy.. Ea has 24 months.. 8 months is fine

thanks for that... didnt realise.

makes sense now.

Not for dsgrue3 though.

Yeah let's compare email accounts to XBL. Makes perfect sense. Naturally they should use the same basis for active accounts because they are exactly the same thing. Well-spotted good chap.

Again, Microsoft only Reports ACTIVE USERS (i.e have at least signed once in the last 8 months).

IF THEY WERE GOING TO REPORT MEMBER SINCE 2005 THERE WOULD VE OVER 100 MILION SINCE HALO 3 ALONE WAS CLOSING 25M LAST YEAR ON LEADERBOARDS.

Lol sign in once in 8 months and you're active? How arbitrary is that?

"IF THEY WERE GOING TO REPORT MEMBER SINCE 2005 THERE WOULD VE OVER 100 MILION SINCE HALO 3 ALONE WAS CLOSING 25M LAST YEAR ON LEADERBOARDS."

Tell me how on an install base of 74m are there 100m accounts?

No need bloat numbers here...oh wait, I guess there is...lol once in 8 months. Sounds like facebook.

Why do you even care? was it that you needed to flame any MS thread and this was the perfect choice?

lol nice edit. I'm just saying the criteria is quite odd for an "Active" userbase. No need to overreact. The numbers are good, just weird how they arrived upon them.

Sony counts all time accounts, groups PS3 with Vita, and with no mention of PS Plus users since its inception. Id say the criteria from your favourite company has a lot more to be desired.
