Is that really still true nowadays, when everything you say must be PC? I'm not trying to start an argument, but I feel like that more and more now people aren't really allowed to exercise that right to the fullest extent. If a white radio host makes a perceived racist comment (ie. Imus), he gets fired from his job. If a Christian pastor says homosexuality and abortion are wrong, he'll get massive backlash from the LGBT or the liberals. If a politician says publicly that illigal immigrants shouldn't have certain rights, he'll get publicly ridiculed from minority groups or organizations that support equal rights for illegal immigrants. The list goes on and on. Just last year, someone from my company was let go because he made a borderline sexist joke at a work social event (so it wasn't even during work hours) and one of the female employees reported him to HR. So yea, we have that right according to the Constitution, but it just doesn't seem like that people are really allowed to truly express their beliefs or opinions in certain settings, especially in the public forum.

You quoted me about my list of causes of death in the US. That was in response to those that think the USA is a hot bed for murder - just putting it into perspective. Homicide 1 in 4,800 or 0.00028% Anyway, I'm glad you've decided to abandon your pursuit of comparing China to the USA. It was futile. "most people die of old age" - nah, old age hasn't been a cause of death since the advent of modern medicine. Not sure where you've been. |
I know arguing with an American about the flaws of USA gets you nowhere.
You already admitted to USA being bad, you just don't think it's as bad as China, so that's fine. You only think it's a bit worse then UK.
I included that homicide rate because I find it kinda funny. You're only 48 times less likely to be murdered then die in a car accident. I know airplane fatalities are less common, so it's funny seeing homicide be a larger cause of death in USA then a plane crash.
When I refer to old age, I meant cancer, not your body failing. Cancer is a natural cause of death, often preventable, often not. To see Heart Disease, and entirely preventable cause of death, top Cancer....that's funny. Only in USA, glad I don't live there.
No offence, it's a nice country, and there are a lot of good citizens who don't shoot people, and contribute to society instead of sitting on the couch and getting obese. Just there are a lot of better countries IMO.
However everyone is entitled to their opinion, some people like American culture

lmao, each post more ignorant than the last - I thought you would have learned your assumptions are no match for facts.
Not once did I say the UK is better than the US. Not once. (22% poverty is atrocious)
No, I said there are issues within the US, not that it's "bad" - only a fool would consider the US a "bad" place to live.
Homicide is higher than plane crashes in any country - wow you are incredibly obtuse to reality. Crack open a book or do a google search or something, you're wrong on nearly every point here. It's one of the most uncommon fatalities.
"When I refer to old age I mean cancer" - LOL RIGHT. You were so nescient of the topic that you actually thought "old age" was a cause of death. LMFAO
I'm sorry but your argument of "heart disease tops cancer in fatality" is stupid. What the hell does that have to do with the COUNTRY? That's a personal health responsibility - as you said, "entirely preventable". lmao.
"No offence, it's a nice country, and there are a lot of good citizens who don't shoot people, and contribute to society instead of sitting on the couch and getting obese. Just there are a lot of better countries IMO."
-LMFAO, well ignorance is bliss for you Michael. You've made that abundantly clear.

Backlash doesn't negate rights.
Public figures are limited by their job - that's their choice to censor themselves. Nothing happens legally if they speak up.

You're saying I'm ignorant, and your making a post making fun of me, full of LMFAO's, and BS.
You're rude.
Anyway, cancer is a natural cause of death, except for not smoking, and frequent doctor visits, there's not much you can do to prevent it from killing you. Plus Cancer rates are generally uniform throughout the developed countries, where heart disease and stroke are not.
So my point was that only in USA do you get people obese enough where the primary cause of death is obesity, and not natural causes of death (People did not die of heart disease 200 years ago, it's not a natural cause of death, but stroke is, however it's odds are also exponentially increased with poor diet, specifically high salt)
What does that have to do with the country? Well first of all, not only does it show poor regulation on taxes (Tax junk food already!) and low standards of life (It's okay to be obese), but it tells you about the lifestyle of Americans. So would you rather live in Germany, where restaurants serve good, cooked from scratch, food in reasonable portions, or would you rather live in a place which serves 10lb steaks?
It's more then just a personal health responsibility, fat people take up two seats on the subway, forcing you to stand, they smell on hot days, and sometimes you can't leave the room, and usually, when they are obese, they are really really gross. USA having the largest % of obese people, and one of the highest rates of poverty are reasons enough not to want to live in the USA. Why would you want to live in a country where people abuse their body's so much? Plus it raises the question as to why they abuse their body's, is life in USA so depressing where you have to eat 4 burgers a day?
Why not live in Europe, where the women are hotter, the food is better, gun violence and homicide rates are significantly reduced and poverty rates are in general, lower?
Only a fool would consider USA a bad place to live? Well then I guess the civilized world is full of fools. Most Europeaners, and well anyone outside the USA do not admire USA. It's the worst of the developed nations to live in (As round 1 showed). I think only a stereotypical American would call the civilized world Ignorant.
Ignorance is bliss....... for you, because if anyone has a different view on USA then you (even if it's most people) you immediatly insult them. Just because you don't view obesity and gun violence as cons to living in the USA, doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't.
P.S. You're also wrong about homicide rates being higher then dying in a plane crash.
The odds of dying in a place crash are about 1 in 20,000
Homicide Rate in USA is 1 in 20,800 (So you're just as likely to be killed then die in a place crash)
Note: I did the math wrong before, I was tired.
Let's compare that to other countries and disasters
Chance of dying in a plane crash - 1 in 20,000
Homicide Rate in USA is 1 in 20,800
Chance of dying by Flood - 1 in 30,000
Chance of recieving Capital Punishment in USA - 1 in 58,618
Homicide Rate in Canada is 1 in 62,500 (So you're 3 times as likely to die in a place crash then being murdered)
Homicide Rate in UK is 1 in 83,333 (4x as safe)
Odds of being struck by Lightning 1 in 83,930
Homicide Rate in Germany is 1 in 125,000 (6x as safe)
Homicide Rate in Norway is 1 in 1 in 166,666 (8x as safe)
Odds of being killed by an asteroid 1 in 200,000
Homicide Rate in Japan is 1 in 250,000 (12.5x as safe)
Only in USA is the Homicide rate as high as a place crash rate. Some people are afraid to fly planes, despite the safety, and for the same reason so people are afraid to go to USA, in fear of getting shot. The odds are the same.
And I'm ignorat...
P.P.S. LOL You're more likely to be hit by an asteroid then get murdered in Japan.... In Most of Europe, you're more likely to get hit by lightning then murdered. Yea, USA is no where near these statistics.

I guess 'murica for me, not the country itself because I do find the contrast that you find all over it fascinating, and the nature looks great, its just a lot of the people that inhabit the said environment I can't stand, although I can't say UK is much better in that respect, but since am stuck living here, don't really have much choice but to tolerate the shit that goes on, but if I did have a choice I would definitely avoid living in 'murica like a plague.
Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Probably Russia, then China, then USA.
Russia seems like quite a scary country to live in and they have a very low life expectancy. China has a lot of censorship and isn't very developed. The USA doesn't seem so safe either, but it's probably the people that would bother me the most.

- Perhaps you aren't completely inept. This is a very concerning issue in the United States, but again, it's about personal responsibility. Tax junk food, really? Maybe just, you know, don't buy it? Or limit your intake?
I'd prefer to live where my dollar goes the furthest, so a large portion is ideal. Portion size isn't an issue, consumption size is. You know the portions are large - get a "to go" box and enjoy your leftovers at another time.
Low standards of life? Uh, no, it's the exact opposite slick - we have so much money, we can afford to drop hundreds of dollars per week to sustain whatever consumption level we want. Problem is overeating. Again, personal, not country.
It's more then just a personal health responsibility, fat people take up two seats on the subway, forcing you to stand, they smell on hot days, and sometimes you can't leave the room, and usually, when they are obese, they are really really gross. I don't use the subway, I have my own vehicle as do the majority of all americans. Obese people are repugnant, no doubt. Rate of poverty is silly, I've already informed you why this isn't the full story. I'd rather not have to repeat myself.
Why not live in Europe, where the women are hotter, the food is better, gun violence and homicide rates are significantly reduced and poverty rates are in general, lower?
Subjective, subjective, guns don't concern me. I'm perfectly safe without them. And the UK poverty rate is higher, I've already told you this. Are you deliberately forgetful?
Only a fool would consider USA a bad place to live? Well then I guess the civilized world is full of fools. Most Europeaners, and well anyone outside the USA do not admire USA. It's the worst of the developed nations to live in (As round 1 showed). I think only a stereotypical American would call the civilized world Ignorant.
You are pawning your opinion as the opinion of Europeans. Just hilarious how you attempt to rationalize your incredibly dense opinion, Michael. I've enjoyed tearing you apart with facts - something you neglect.
Ignorance is bliss....... for you, because if anyone has a different view on USA then you (even if it's most people) you immediatly insult them.Just because you don't view obesity and gun violence as cons to living in the USA, doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't.
This isn't it at all, you're welcome to your opinion so long as you aren't pawning it as the opinion of others or as fact. Anyone objectively analyzing the US would not consider it a bad place to live. Pretty simply, just as I wouldn't say Canada/UK is a bad place to live. I think they are very comparable to USA. I'm not oblivious to reality as you seem to be.
P.S. You're also wrong about homicide rates being higher then dying in a plane crash.
The odds of dying in a place crash are about 1 in 20,000
Well this is quite hilarious. *Checks for source - sees none (as usual). Once again I'll do your work for you, Michael.
"The annual risk of being killed in a plane crash for the average American is about 1 in 11 million."
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/space/how-risky-is-flying.html
"Bottom 25 Airlines with the worst accident rates - 1 in 1.7 million
Top 30 airlines with the best accident rates - 1 in 29.4 million"
http://planecrashinfo.com/cause.htm
Not even remotely in the same ballpark as 1 in 20,000. This shows how clueless you are. I hope you're finally seeing a pattern here of you making an outlandish claim and me smacking you down with facts.
And I'm ignorat...
Yep, as show repeatedly over the course of the thread. And you wonder why I've been so condescending. You speak loudly with blissful ignorance, take a deep breath, relax, and do some actual research before mouthing off like a mindless fool.
