Forums - Nintendo - WiiU owner locked out of $400 of digital purchases

This happened to me, too, only on 3DS and they will *not* budge (same situation: lots of content; linked to Club Nintendo; etc.). I got exactly the same runaround this person did, for a good month, and it ended with me filing with the BBB. That Nintendo recently was rated the best in customer service is laughable based on my experience (and plenty of others--this guy and myself are not remotely alone in having to run this near-fruitless gauntlet).

(And I and this other person aren't remotely alone--God help you if you have a transfer that goes awry, or your 3DS/U is lost, you will *never* get those games back.)

Holy cats. Reading this thread has made me realize exactly why Nintendo doesn't change this: they don't have to. Die-hard fans seem much more interested in blaming the person with the problem than demanding a better solution.

Point blank, it's a bad account system supported by bad policy. I would imagine that thousands of people have been stung by this, many of them probably non-tech-savvy parents. Why anyone would defend Nintendo on this, I have no idea. They would be better served by demanding that Nintendo get to work on improvements.

Who are you basing that off of? DieAppleDie?

Different shops for there consoles, bloody ludicrous if i do get a wii u or 3ds eventually i will be staying well clear of there digital services, what an absolute farce.

Nintendo should be extremely ashamed, this can only be because they have decided to do it all in house and have absolutely not clue. Come on Ninty get some experts in and pay to get your stores unified and games tied to accounts not bloody consoles.

Exactly.  The Wii U launch should have been their incentive to make a big announcement that they were making a Nintendo Store, which would be used by the Wii U, Wii, and 3DS, like Sony does with their systems.  This one store for each console is just ridiculous, and probably more work than it is worth.  It's also silly that you have to enter "Wii mode" to access many of the Wii functions/games.  Poor BC implementation, IMO.  And not being able to deactivate consoles online?  That should be a no brainer in this day and age.  Sony started doing this a year or two ago.  It's one reason I don't really like the new Nintendo, just such an old school way of looking at everything.  They make enjoyable games, but on almost every other front, it's almost like they're still in the late 90's, while everyone else is in the 2010's.

Well, this is a solid reason to emulate games if I have ever seen any...

Good grief.

Among others.  Read cbarroso09's post, for example.  But yeah, I should have said "some die-hard fans", as I'm sure there are plenty who don't like the way it's handled now.

Yeah, I obviously don't agree with Cbarroso over all.

I don't agree with the way Nintendo handled it. At least give him the 400$ that went to waist. (Even if it is on the Wii U, at least he gets a full "refund.")

I'm sorry, but everyone knows you NEVER return broken game systems to the retailer. You always send it to the console manufacturer for repair. All the console companies say that. Nintendo, seeing as they have that rule about locking games to one console, it is especially important if you purchase a broken Nintendo system that you send it to them for repair, that way they will transfer all of your games to the replacement system and ship your system back to you.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

well i won't be downloading any games on Wiiu, and having second thoughts about buying the console.

I never said something about not being able to link my games to the account. I am talking about the costumer service. In fact, it is not good that i can't link my account from other Wii U systems , but I won't complain for that because they are going to change that, and I don't have two systems. If it brokes, I always go to Nintendo's support, not a retailer by any means. I won't by another system, that is non-sense for me to pay for another one, I will just send my system to repair. And yeah, I have a life so 2 or 3 weeks of waiting won't kill me.
