That's the great thing about media attention: It gets shit done.

But it's still bullshit. It's not possible to for every single person to go public when they have an eShop problem to "pressure" Nintendo into working it out. Not to mention the huge costs that this individual "working around the system" brings. Unified accounts should be a top priority for Nintendo, followed by system level voice chat. I didn't buy any digital games on my Wii because it was uncertain if the software will ever be able to leave this particular system. Now that I know that they have a transfer system in place, albeit still arbitrary, I am more confident and already made some purchases.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

How can he rebuy if the games aren't on Wii U shop?

I believe they gave him funds for the Wii Shop, not the Wii U eShop. That's where all of his purchases were.

By buying them in Wii mode. I'd have to read the article again to be 100% certain (now I am: credited my Wii shop on the Wii U with 57000 points ($570, the value of my Wii Virtual Console/Wiiware library), but I'm pretty sure they gave him the money on the vWii eshop, not the WiiU eshop.

I might be missing something here, but when I transferred my data from my Wii to my Wii U, the system REPEATEDLY says this is a permanent process and that the games and account history will ONLY be accessible on the new Wii U system. Sooooooo, I think it's his own fault for not reading the MULTIPLE messages telling him this through the process and then just swapping the Wii U for another one.

I am glad Nintendo worked it out, that's a credit to Nintendo for good customer service. But yeah, the only one who was at fault was "Jon"

OK so the Wii U can access the Wii shop in Wii mode.

When I read this for the first time I was so glad I had hacked my Wii. It's nice to know I still have all my games and savegames in place should the WiiU ever screw up^^

I don't usually get into the whole debate over the Wii U being "next gen" or not, as it seems like semantics to me, but this ... this is last gen. This should have been addressed and solved before the Wii U shipped. How can Sony and Microsoft have figured this out years ago but Nintendo is still behind the curve with a brand new system?

Exactly, Hawk.

Also, everyone has to accept your words as law, because you are the VGC Hero.

I'm blushing.

Good to see you again Rol

Costumer's fault, READ THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL. By the way, those guys at Gamestop should know that, that is why that company is not profitable anymore (not their fault, but they could give some help).
HEY GUYS, OPERATION MANUAL Wii U, END OF PAGE 53, "If your Wii U system does not operate correctly after trying the troubleshooting steps, DO NOT return the console to the store. You may lose saved game data, Nintendo eShop downloads, and any balance left in your Nintendo eShop account. For additional troubleshooting and repairs options visit support.nintendo.com, or call 1-800-255-3700."
There you go, when i don't know something before calling support I go to my OPERATION MANUAL.
NINTENDO WAS MORE THAN COOL BY GIVING THIS GUY AT LEAST 50% BACK. YOU SEE, NINTENDO IS THE BEST.
