Sooooooo, I think it's his own fault for not reading the MULTIPLE messages telling him this through the process and then just swapping the Wii U for another one. When I read this for the first time I was so glad I had hacked my Wii. It's nice to know I still have all my games and savegames in place should the WiiU ever screw up^^
