I thought this was going to be a thread about Fire Emblem "selling out" as in selling out to mainstream gamers and then I thought to myself "But they barely release any Fire Emblem games? How could it sell it?!?! I'll have to give OP a good debate on this one....."

So I ended up here.

Fire Emblem might not be milked like Assassin's Creed is, but we've seen just as many Fire Emblems localize in North America as we have Zelda games (6 in the last 10 years vs.  7 Zeldas if you include the Wind Waker Remake for this year).

If Zelda is Mainstream because of the number of games they sell, why can't Fire Emblem be? Also unlike Zelda, Fire Emblem games sell proportionatly to how well they rate, so if Awakening is the best rated Fire Emblem, and likely going to be the best selling, isn't it possible for Nintendo to push the game into the realms of other established JRPGs like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest?

I bought the last copy at my local GameStop (in the Bronx)...
The guy in line before me also got the game...
The employee who checked me out couldn't believe the buzz surrounding the title...
He also said Nintendo clearly didn't anticipate such a high level of interest...
Perhaps now Nintendo of America will reevaluate their promotion efforts with different titles...

sold out at the best buy i work at, although we only got like 5 copies. even though I only work 4 hours today I had like 4-5 people asking me if we had some and they said they can find them anywhere.

Lesson to be learned from this: if its a japanese game, PRE-ORDER IT!!!

You must of missed my post. I preordered it, from Best Buy ironically enough, and I'm still sans the game.

It's the first game in the series I've played, man it's amazing. I'm really pleased with it. It's so difficult and rewarding. I absolutely love it. Best 3DS game I've owned easily.

NoA is Nintendos worst enemy. They should just fire all those clowns there, including Reggie. Them constantly misjudging demand and undershipping costs Nintendo money every single time and just proves time and time again that those monkeys have no clue what's going on on the market. They are literally throwing darts at a board and ship what they hit.
