Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft: "The only reason for [Rayman's] delay is to release on multiple platforms."

I was loving Ubi this year. Farcry 3 was amazing, ZombiU was the best Wii U launch game, and it was exclusive, and Rayman legends was on the horizon for a Nintendo console no less!

Then all this, man, i was starting to trust a big publisher, last time I ever do that again.

For me, the only things I've liked from Ubisoft in the 7th gen, (and the 8th so far) were Rayman Origins and Red Steel 2. Almost every game I've ever seen with their logo on it disappointed me.

I really liked: Origins, Farcry 3, ZombiU, Red Steel 2. And Watch dogs looks cool.

I always thought Ubi was way lest sleezy than EA and Activision, I was wrong.

Am I missing something? Would it be any kind of inconvenience at all to Ubisoft to simply release the game this month on eShop? Just put it up there, and wait till September for the physical release and marketing push. People who actively want the game will buy it, and it will do nothing but make money for Ubisoft for the next 6 months.

Business decision... fine.

Again... makes no fucking sense to delay WiiU's release.

It does. If they wanted the 360/ps3 launches to also be successfull they would need to double their advertising budget to essentially launch the game twice. Also if the Wii U version launched 1st, the game would feel old by the time it arrived on the ps3/360 and so its sales on platforms with the larger install base would be severely hurt.

At least the're being honest with it.

FYI it is s dumb move to not release now, but it was even dumber to have it exclusive in the first place

I agree.

The delay is horrible. And no, it makes no sense business wise. They may reduce their advertisement budget, for only advertise once, but they already advertised it for WiiU: E3-presentation, the videos about playing at 5 on WiiU, and a demo that is already available for some time. What impact all this advertisement now will have back in September? It will be wasted. The game would sell some with no further investment on advertising. Hey, the demo was so good, I even thought about buying it, although I don't like platformers in general. But the demo was fun.

And the statement, that they usually release multi-platform-games at once. They didn't for Assassins Creed III. They could have delayed it by 18 days in America and a month in europe to release it at once. They didn't delay in that case (and nobody really complained). But they delay for more than 6 months? After they advertised the hell out of it including playable demo? Sorry Ubisoft, that really makes no sense.

so will other ps3/360 owners admit now that the sale of WiiU software is decent considering they were mostly late ports?

Shocking news. They don't wanna deal with multiple marketing campaigns, hopefully nintendo fans now you understand.
