"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

First the WiiU has to blow the PS3 out of the water. So far the system games look worst than their Xbox360 - PS3 counterparts... |
Alright I have to ask, what game could have surpassed the PS360 games?
The ports? The companies barely put any effort into them and still came out with great results (Blops2)
The 3rd party exclusives? ZombiU did NOT have a $50 million dollar budget to push out the most impresive level of polys ever.
1st Part exclusives? Nintendo games have never been about the raw power, There aren't that many 1st party games out yet, Nintendo studios still haven't gotten used to the HD era and the games that they pushed out had nothing to do with graphicsal capabilities (2D mario and NintendoLand).
So I have to ask, which of these, even if it was on the PS4, would have blown the competition out of the water? A powerful console does not a beautiful game make. It's the time, money and effort developers put into the game and maximising the hardware which makes a beautiful game. Nintendo will eventually show how far the Wii U is ahead of the current gen when studio like Retro or Monolith come out with their games. But for now, I don't get what your benchmark is?

To be fair...the majority of the early games on the Xbox 360 and PS3 were a signficant leap in terms of showing off the console's graphical muscle....right now it just feels like Ninetndo is just catching up to Sony and Microsoft

They were wtill that way by design. Some of those games had a pretty big developement behind it. Up till now, there hasn't beena single studio or company willing to put in the effort. And the results are still amazing, now imagine what it'll look like with some effort.

So let me get this straight. Early 360 and PS3 games still looked like a leap over the last gen, even though developers were getting used to the HW and some were quick ports? Yet, Wii U early games don't look like a jump over last gen, because developers are getting used to the HW and some were quick ports? I got that, right? Maybe the system just isn't capable of delivering such a leap. At least not a very noticable one. You're probably going to have to look elsewhere if you truly want that leap.
For the current economy, i would think even 299 might even be too much for the mainstream.

How is $399 not close to the Premuim Wii U (which supposedly is the model that sells the most) price of $349? And considering there is going to be a big gap in graphics between the two, that $50 extra is going to be deemed worth it. Also, the PS2 continued to outsell the PS3 for the first couple of years, yet the PS3 is doing pretty good, now. And if a $499-$599 PS3 can go on to sell 72M+ (probably will end up around 90M+), then I think a $399-$449 PS4 is going to be fine. I think Nintendo is really the one in trouble for next gen. Their system has a year headstart, and its entry price is a minimum $100 less than the PS4/NeXbox, yet it has started selling like a dead console. |
Firstly you are assuming its going to cost $399 ... this makes the rest of your post invalid... try again.
