Well that's what I'm trying to say. 5-6% down is still a downwards trend. Insignificant for one region but the same drop applied for all regions would mean 1.700 - 2.000 units less WW. A few more weeks like that and WiiU would drop below 20k WW. I wonder if N-Magic would still call it a "nice hold" then.

Becuase developers are still bringing out PSP games over there.  And instead of making Vita exclusives they make PSP/Vita crossplay titles, so it gives the consumer little reason to purchase a Vita when it costs that much more than a PSP.

hmm.. I guess its only because they did well in the other markets they can afford to ride it out this gen..

Or is the WiiU really turning out to be a graveyard for third parties? Pretty much every third party game has sold atrociously on the console... Most haven't even registered on the sales list in Japan despite being launch titles.

The psp was popular in Japan. The PS2 in Japan sold almost 22 million and the PSP is nearing the 20 million mark. There are a lot of psp games available both new and (inexpensive) used games. They are all on UMD though, so you can't use them on the Vita. Say you want to pick up some cheap used games or your friends want to lend you some of their psp games. If you get a Vita, then your screwed because you can't play them! Nevermind the very expensive memory cards.

I just bought myself a new PSP in December. It's nice because I've already bought some cheap games and I can borrow the psp games that my girlfriend already owns. WIN-WIN If I would've gotten a Vita then I would have to pay the higher PSN store price for PSP games and I wouldn't be able to use any UMD games from other people. LOSE-LOSE

I hope they don't, the resources should be allocated on other markets. They've been trying more than a decade with no luck.

And even better: they did it above X360-niveau...
