good they fucking ruined what could have been the best fighting game this gen. i blame sony mostly tho cuz they gave one of the possibly biggest ip's to a random dev team with no experience. its dog eat dog out there

HAHAHAHA You funny. Smash Bros Brawl says hello!

Someone has some major reading comprehension issues....learn to read please. Coz you know, the internet is littered with stupid ass idiots, you wouldn't want to be counted as one of them now would you.

Obviously you didn't read the other posts. And I don't feel like explaining my thoughts to you. My native language is French, I find myself lucky to talk with all of you and understand a great portion of it.

Better explanation for people who are not able to take care of their own business: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=5092800

Try being respectful next time. It couldn't be the best fighting game this gen, nothing could outdo SSB.

I grew up with Street Fighter II the World Warirros, then came the slew of fighting games such as Fatal Fury, World Heros, Fighters History, Mortal Kombat, Dark Edge, Soul Edge, Dragonball, Tekken, King of Fighters, and so on and so forth and for someone who loves fighting games SSB is not a great fighting game. SSB sucks balls!

If even a few percentage of fighting game fans think that it sucks balls, such as myself, then SSB cannot be the best fighting game this gen coz, you know, it sucks balls.

For the record, I was being respectful, otherwise I'd have outright said that "you're a fraking fanboy who is too stupid to understand what he's reading". But I didnt, did I? I was courtious enough to ask you to learn to read.

Englihs isn't my native language either and yet I'm able to understand what he said without issues. So, you claiming that its not "your native language" is not an excuse. If you didn't understand it, then dont reply to it simple as that.

And for the record, I did play SSB and it suuuuucked!!!! It was so lame that after just 5 minutes of play I stoped playing and never looked back. And no, I haven't  played PSASBR coz I think it sucks and I wont bother with it ever.

I was going to post this. Sad news for SuperBot. =/

This industry is on the verge of ... something... It can't stay the way it is now.

With the rising costs, its going to get worse as far as big budget game studios go. I think a lot of studios are going to start seeing the value of app gaming, which is going to leave the console world with only select few studios out there making games.

On a related note, it is interesting to see the games that are catching on with the younger generations, like Minecraft. The graphics are awful, but they love it.

Damn. Superbot deserves better. The game was pretty solid. Maybe if Sony marketed it showing actual gameplay instead of the stupid real life ads they always do, then people could have seen just how fun the game really is.

True story.  Makes you feel like this all but rules out a sequel.  Or at best, a revamped one.

Look at Nintendo games like Pokemon.......lol. I play them to. ^.^

*graphics aint shit.

If they're this harsh why have they not dropped Vita development? Most Vita games sell much worse than PSASBR.

And yet, we want MOAR power next gen. See how many developers also bite the dust for that reason.

This is an aspect of the industry I'd like to see dissected bit more.  What goes into development costs?  Why are they increasing at such an apparently rapid pace leading to higher thresholds of sales for success?

Now, my main guess is size of teams these days.  In the 80s a development team could be a dozen people, where as now routinely see 100+ teams.  So, what can be done to reduced the numer of people required to make a game?  It does seem if on Playstation 4 any game has to sell a million to break even and major titles have to sell five million the industry could be in big trouble and re-evaluate its entire model.

The biggest portion of a game team nowadays is often the art/animation team. To reduce costs, the gamers would have to be happy with less game/game world and/or lower art benchmark. And I don't see that happening in the next gen, though financial realities may force their hand. To put it simply, if it is no longer profitable to make console games, they will not be made.

In regards to SuperBot, call me soft, but no Studio deserves to be closed based on their first game being only average. These are real people with families to feed, and despite all the grumblings, the devs no doubt worked hard, and they cannot build upon what they've done now.

No one can say a certain fighting game is better than another as a 'fact'. It's all a matter of opinion. I mean heck there are many who don't even consider smash to be a fighting game. It's all about preference

The main guy behind Smash doesn't consider it a fighting game. Meanwhile, Superbot/SantaMonica has always addressed all-stars as a fighting game.

OT: This pisses me off. SONY failed to market this thing. SONY are the ones with the lousy PR and Marketting departments, SONY were the ones that set the dev time for the game, SONY were the ones unable to put out for 3rd party star power, or even force certain devs that THEY OWN to shut the fuck up and let Superbot use their ip (Looking at you, Team ICO).

Superbot did a fantastic job with the cards that they were dealt. They had 2 years? Let's get the gameplay down and everything else comes second. Fighting games have lag issues online? The figured an excellent way to handle it.

They were a good dev team.

PS3 has one of the worst hardware setups for designing games of all time. Next gen will be significantly easier and cheaper to develop for.

But what about those legs everyone was talking about? When will they kick in?
