Forums - Sony - PS3/Vita price cut coming?

i think sony needs to drop the price of the ps3 at e3 and drop it to : $199 for the 250gb and $249 for the 500gb. the vita needs a $50 price drop , memory card price drop and a aggressive advertising program . i love my vita, would love to see the sales it deserves and i believe they will come. sony knows the price drop needs to happen soon or they will lose more software to the 3ds as a result of them being stubborn.
i will get the ps4 when it launches, just hope the dumb move control is a option or not at all. hate that damn thing
cant wait too see uncharted 4 on the ps4, that series is the reason i bought a ps3. i am sure it will be a reason people end up getting a ps4 for as well , if they were on the fence.

Legit! XD

So Vita does not have a future confirmed??? or the PS in their name does not mean PlayStation???

You tell me it was profitable, but I'm reluctant to believe it. Don't bother posting quotes of claims its profitable, Sony tends to lie or spin the truth. If we didn't see the numbers they would fool us into believing Vita is doing great.

I said I don't think we'll see a PS3 for $199 or less with a hard drive. You mentioning the 12GB PS3 implies you missed the part I bolded.

You missed the point about the flash memory. A PS3 with 64GB of flash memory would be cheaper to produce than a PS3 with a hard drive of any size. So the odds of us seeing a $199 PS3 with no hard drive is more likely.

My post was actually pretty reasonable. Yet you responded in full defense mode. Chill the fuck out.

What a ridiculous notion.  You won't except that the PS3 is being sold at a profit, even if Sony stated it years ago, and they have been posting profits in their gaming division?  Wishful, as well as biased, thinking on your part.  I guess I could be just as willingly ignorant as you and say that MS is still losing money on the 360.  No, don't show me any facts that prove me wrong, I won't hear of it.

As for the $199 PS3, we will definitely see one this year.  I guess we have a 50/50 shot of it meeting your criteria of having a HDD or not.  Personally, I'm leaning towards them just marking the 250GB SKU to $199.  Though, even if they do it by bringing over the 12GB SKU, we will see a $199 PS3 w/ HDD either in 2014 or 2015.

I refer you to my first paragraph as to why your post was not reasonable.

Also, I'm...

Ps3 will be $199 with harddrive this year. Count on it. I doubt the 12gig will hit the shores of NA and if it does count on that being even cheaper. Sony has been profiting on HW since before the Ps3 slim and the new revision is just to increase profit margins for the impending price cut.

I don't feel the PS3 Slim at $249 was very profitable, if at all. I do believe the new Super Slim hardware would be, because its cheap pile of crap in comparison.

Your Xbox analogy is stupid because we know that hardware is significantly more profitable and has been much longer.

Even if the PS3 Super Slim could be profitable at $199 with a HDD, I don't think it would be worthwhile for Sony. That's a big reason I don't think it will happen.

The only reason MS has been profitable in their gaming division is because of gold subscriptions covering HW losses. Your just being willfully ignorant to benefit yourself

12gb lol?? Doubt that but I do see a price cut coming. Vita needs a $100 permanent price cut asap and I say $50 now for Ps3 cut and another $50 when ps4 launches

Why is 12gb so out of the question? its in europe already

America seems to account for much of the digal download market. So they wanna make sure we have the storage space to download games.

Shame you can't store games on USB storage.  64GB memory sticks are only $30. Hard drives aren't even essential anymore given how cheap flash memory is.

I don't own a hard drive on my primary Xbox 360. Two 32GB memory sticks is more than enough for the average person.

well in that case they could drop the 250gb to $199

At that rate they would probably be selling the hardware at a loss. Sony wants to sell the hardware at a profit and get more profits from digital downloads.

I don't think we'll ever see a PS3 for $199 or less with a hard drive. Sony should put out a $199 console with ~64GB of flash memory. That's plenty of space for the average user.

Bet?

Okay, you can have a copy of Too Human if I'm wrong.

If I'm right, I won't even give a shit. Its a bet I can't win until they stop producing PS3s.

Lets put a limit on it then. Till E3...

So you think in a few months Sony will have a PS3 with a hard drive on the market for $199? You got some balls on you, sir.

Hmmm... maybe they'll surprise us with a PS3 with no disc drive. You never know with Sony.

You never know with Sony... Because they are one who releases a system with no built in wifi even at that time a iPod had it built in and no hard drive... You just never know with Sony.. LOL

I don't understand why you guys are giving this guy a hard time? Yes yes you have facts but this guy 'feels' it.

The vita seriously needs prices comparable to the 3DS. A lower price point is one of ninty's highest selling points imo

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

They have facts? You gotta feel Sony isn't spinning the truth.

Does anyone feel that?
