Forums - Nintendo - 60FPS HD trailer for Wonderful 101. Yes this game is 60fps.. not sure if 720 or 1080 though.

Looks freekin awesome.
60 fps is always welcome regardless of resolution.

Metal Gear Rising demo also runs at 60 fps btw... Platinum games seems to know where its at.

MGR uses dynamic resolution, the resolution drops to maintain 60fps. Similar to Wipeout HD.

In that case, you don't represent the vast majority of the population.

Do you have any concrete data on this?

A lot of PSN and XBLA games are 1080p native. HD remakes too. But most retail games are 720p or sub-720p native so as not to sacrifice looks or framerate. Hopefully with the next generation 1080p will be the new standard.

Nope. Not while your previous statement is still true -- developers will continue "pushing the limits" of the hardware, settling for 720p or sub-720p so as not to sacrifice looks. And I wouldn't be surprised if the framerate continues to be shit next gen for the same reason. I don't know where you get the idea that the framerate isn't being compromised this gen -- maybe it's steady in sports games and racing games, but the slowdown is pretty bad in a lot of other games.

I don't get that idea. I meant so as not to compromise the framerate even more. I actually hope 1080p at 60fps becomes the standard, since I love 60fps even more than I love fullHD. If they made TVs accept 120Hz signals that would be even better.

Yeah but I'd take lower res for 60fps any day... As long as it isn't something like 360p upscalled to 720p and then upscalled to 1080p by the tv or something lol

I don't think 720p ever was dominant. You had the rise of HDTVs in 2005 and for about a year or two most TVs didn't support 1080p but from 2007-2008 and onward almost every TV supports 1080p.

720p is the industry standard for something being considered "HD".  1080p is "full HD" but most media formats don't even utlitize it.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Hey, I'd love to have 1080@60. But the fact that next gen consoles will be "capable" of that means nothing, because this gen's were capable of 720@60, and devs didn't use that power to make 720@60 games. They crammed more polys in, or buffed up the engine or the lighting, anything to make their game look "good" at the cost of framerate and resolution. And I don't expect them to suddenly stop doing that next gen.

Very true but that was not what I was saying. Most media is 720p but most TV sets support 1080p. You really have to search hard to find a 720p set nowadays.

I understand what you're trying to say. It's the sad truth. Like how many Wii and heck even PS360 owners with 1000$> HDTVs are using composite cables. 480i lol.

Dear God! I can't even handle the video without lag. Laptop, you have failed me for the last time!
