100% sure that the same quarterly results for Sony would be treated as a landslide victory. It's so hypocritical, Sony doesn't even reveal Vita sales and cuts forecasts by 6 million across two quarters and will cut it even more but somehow their investors just don't give a shit.

You don't have a clue. Sony is a massive corporation, so when SCE make  a big loss it has daddy Sony to bail it out. Nintendo doesn't have that luxury because their only products are two game machines and they are tiny corporation by comparisson. So if one of their two big products is failing like the Wii u, it hurts nintendo in a big way.

Sucks that "Daddy Sony" is failing, too.

Mature response, well done.

Hey man, you started the whole daddy shit.

The "Daddy shit"was so I could explain about Sony corporation and SCE.

Big daddy must be getting raped pretty violently atm then....

Isn't it the other way at Sony atm? Big daddy is losing money and little SCE has to work for ten.

At the moment yes, but that is not a good example. A good example would be the launch of the ps3. It was a catastrophic failure the Sony and they losing money on it left, right and center. If this happened to Nintendo, they would be out of business in a matter of months but because Sony could literally throw money at it from other areas in the company, they were able to survive.

If Iwata resigns I think it would be the sign that times have changed so much that Nintendo literally cannot sustain a profitable, growing business without having software on smart devices. If that were to happen, Iwata probably should resign, as he made it his job to prove that Nintendo could be successful without releasing software on smart devices.

I do think a move like that would probably completely take me out of the Nintendo fan club, though. Playing a Mario game on my cell phone by swiping my index finger would be the death of Mario in my opinion. I'd rather just not play games at all than do that.

There is a lot that's off with this post.

First of all, many mobile platforms have the ability to plug a controller in them. We had a few threads on that, and just the other day my buddy showed me a shooter game on his asus tablet which he was playing with the dualshock. If they needed to go on smart devices, they'd find a way to make Mario work...

No they wouldn't.... my God you know nothing.
Nintendo wouldn't go out of business because they have cash reserves to protect them from a PS3-like launch failure.

Now, today (which is what matters in this topc), if Sony were to have another PS3-like launch failure it would be forced to withdraw from the market. No big daddy like you said.

That was my understanding of it. I've always found maverick to be full of astounding novelties, so I could be wrong.

I haven't a clue what you have against me but it starting to piss me off. Every time I post something in an article, you have something smart to say and put me down. I am going to start reporting you from on.

You can report me and I won't get banned. What I have against you is that you talk without knowing what you're talking about.

If you were anti-Nintendo with knowledge, it would make sense, but you are saying things based on lack of industry knowledge on Nintendo and it's constant.

In the Nintendo Direct thread, you said they had nothing surprising when they just announced a SMT x FE crossover, which is pretty much megaton for Japan. So it gives the impression that you're quick to jump to negative conclusions regarding Nintendo and it's highly irritating.

Nintendo franchises are popular because they are offered on Nintendo systems with extremely polished control systems in place to make the game play experience something that puts other game platforms to shame.  My point in my previous post was that that kind of relationship between a first-parties' hardware and software and all the benefits that go along with that would be instantly lost if Mario were to be put on smart devices.  The loss of any kind of competitive advantage aside, third-party controller accessories, none of which abide by any kind of uniformity, are not a suitable replacement for a dedicated device with games made specifically for it by the device's creator.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

I wish I could so bad.

Anti-Nintendo?? What am I 10 years of age?

I am anti-nothing, I own all consoles and would want no company to ever go out of business, that is childish stuff. The Nintendo Direct was not surprising in the slightest. Wow, a cross over game we know next to nothing of. By the sounds of it will be a niche SRPG that will not be a hardware seller which Nintendo needs btw. What it did show was the lack of 3rd party support the Wii U has but hoepfully that will improve.

Sony is irrelevant to this topic. This is about Iwata and the Wii Us launch. Bringing Sony up is trolling and offtopic. Calling people "a genius with a ..." is obvious sarcastic flaming too.

As for the topic on hand, I see no mention or hint at his resignation....

Not sure getting rid of Iwata would do much. I have a feeling there are other people over at Nintendo holding the company back, a bunch of old farts living in the past.

Reggie needs to go though. >_> I want Cammie back!

What's so special about Cammy Dunaway? All I remember from her tenure is E3 '09, and that's one I'd like to forget.
