Forums - Gaming - Crytek opens US studio, offers “new start” for Vigil staff

Gteat to hear some of the staff at Vigil have found new work. Crytek is a solid developer and is hugely expanding right now. I mean look at how many new teams they've formed over the past 2 years.

Crytek is really a studio to keep an eye on next gen I have a feeling they're trying to become the next big player in the industry. I really hooe they have or are looking at acquiring the Darksiders IP as well

wow that just raised my respect bar for crytek.

They bought out Free Radical Design when they were going under, so they have done similar things before

The concern is that they say they want to develop AAA games, with free-to-play business games

They have yet to utilize Free Radical staff to do anything remotely meaningful though, which is a shame, there are some really talented people there. Overall, I'm not too fond of Crytek, their games are shallow and buggy, they want to go head first into F2P land and they talk about themselves and their work as if they rule the industry (such as Cervat's nonsense talk about 16-32GB RAM required on next gen consoles).

No, this wouldn't have anything to do with that IP, not unless Crytek purchases that from THQ and gives it to their new studio to develop.  It would surprise me if something like that happened, though, or else they would have bid on Vigil in the first place.

oh i know, im just hoping :)

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Crytek is getting huge.

Also good to hear that quite a few of the Vigil staff already has a new job.

They made the MP Crysis 2 & 3 and are making Homeland 2, so give them time

None of that is meaningful to me... By meaningful, I mean Time Splitters!

Fair enough... but good luck with that!

The CEO has straight out said that there is a vocal number of people on the internet who want it, but it won't make any money... I am not convinced

Great to hear that some of the Vigil team will get to stick together.

Also Crytek still hanging on to the Epic games rivalry lol, Epic rescues some of Big Huge Games after their owner goes bankrupt and now Crytek save some of Vigil after their owners go bankrupt. And both studios kinda did sort of similar types of games too.

I do have to wonder how CryTek has enough money to establish 9 studios around the world. I mean besides their games they do sell their engines, but it seemed they weren't anywhere near as successful as Epic with that.

I was wondering that as well, they have basically only released Crysis games, though I didn't think they quite had 9 studios? Are they all proper studios rather than just small tech studios?
