They're not automated. I know this from monitoring these pages almost every week. For example, Dragon Quest VII, Kingdom Hearts HD, Tomb Raider and Hitman were both originally in the 2012 section as recently as mid-January 2013, even though their dates were officially listed as 2013. However, in the past few days, a 2013 page has been created ans all 2013 releases (and games that are TBA) have been moved into it. Trust me, it's not automated. There's a staff member at SQEX Japan that is continually updating this area of the website and they're deliberately leaving TLR on there.

I personally believe the PS3 version could be a sequel that includes the entire first game on a separate Blu-ray Disc.

That could be cool, but did the first one do well enough that they'd consider a sequel?

It sold 650K worldwide on 360, which is higher than the 620K that FFXIII-2 has sold on the platform. I'm not sure how much it sold on PC, though. Also, TLR sold more on the 360 in Japan than both FFXIII and FFXIII-2. That has to account for some reason to still release it on PS3.

But I'd imagine that the PS3 sales for FFXIII/XIII-2 helped XIII/XIII-2's case whereas The Last Remnant is untested on PS3 and is a bit of a forgotten IP. I mean it would be kind of cool if it happened, but I have my doubts.

I think you're slightly misinterpreting the page.

It's the page for 2013~ - which means 2013 and later. If you look at games like Tomb Raider, it says this:

This says that it's set for release in 2013 - specifically, 発売日 means "Release Date", and 2013年発売予定 means "Will be released in 2013". The next two on the list (Gyrozetter and FF Lightning Returns) also have this. Now look at FFV XIII and The Last Remnant:

Here, 未定 means "Undecided", and can basically be interpreted as TBA or TBD.

The reason why it seems to keep being moved forward a year is that the current year is where all the TBA/TBD games are put.

That's what I was telling him, but he thinks the release page is manually set up and that Square Enix is deliberately leaving The Last Remnant on there.

So the Last Remnant PS3 is turning into the Last Guardian PS3 and FF Versus XIII. Something we'll never see this generation? ;-p

Anyway, If you really want to play the game just get the PC version. I picked up a copy of it from Green Man Gaming when they had a sale last year for like $2 or $3. I still haven't tried it out though. I believe there was a demo or a system test benchmark for the pc version released a long time ago. You can download that and see how it runs on your system and how it looks.
