The recent Hollywood anti-fracking "blockbuster" featuring Matt Damon, Promised Land, has a producer credit to "Image Nation Abu Dhabi". INAD is a state corporation in the UAE. The UAE is a member of OPEC.
Would OPEC have anything to gain from scaring the American public away from domestic fracking?

Al Gore's "current TV" was recently purchased by Al Jazeera, one of the WIkileaks scandal cables stated that AJ was heavily controlled by the Qatar Gov't to suit their interests. The buyout was for $500m, a lot of media reports suggest this to be a "big risk" (though, obviously, these media companies also have an interest in making the buyout seem as negative as possible)... perhaps the "big risk" was more of a back scratching for previous work by Al Gore?
Scaring the public into supporting the block of drilling on federal land surely plays into OPEC's good books.

Are there any other examples out there of OPEC funding the green movement? Either explicitly (like Promised Land), or implicitly (like Current TV)?
