Forums - Sales - Vita vs. Vita

How the Vita will do in the second year?

Worse (<3 million) 138 21.97%

Same (3-4 million) 161 25.64%

Better (4-7 million) 254 40.45%

Doubling (>7 million) 75 11.94%

Total:628

Sorry for the late update. MH is eating up my time.
Anyways, now the OP has the recent data. It shows a further drop, although we heard about the rumours about Vita being supply-constrained until golden week. That means, real sales are probably a bit higher, maybe some thousand. That alone does not help at the global scale, better sales in Japan alone are obviously not enough to keep the Vita above last years sales level. Vita needs the pricecut and the games also in the west.

It hurts to watch the Via's sales. I didn't think it was possible to be BELOW last year's terrible sales...

Well, WiiU does the same. after the short games-spike it is below last years Vita sales: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=152379

And you have to note, that Sony only did something for Vita in Japan so far. The pricecut and the games are needed in the West too, better sales in japan alone cannot save the Vita. I think Sony already has a plan. We have to wait.

"Vita vs. Vita". I have a strong feeling that even in this fight Vita will lose...

I've recently heard an idea about Sony making a Digimon games for Vita. I think this could be worth a shot, it would be the closest thing to Pokemon imaginable. Just make it a good RPG with awesome graphics that 3DS can't get close to, market it like crazy and hope for the best!

The popularity of the Digimon IP is very low.  Namco Bandai owns the license for video games and they just relased a new PSP Digimon title in Japan on the 17th which netted just 45k first week.  That's not a system mover.

There's been a new Digimon game on the PSP for the past 2 years and they never light up the charts.  Nor did the Digimon games on the DS for the years before that.

Only 1 Digimon game has ever sold over 1 million units and that was back in 1999.  The next best seller was 600k 1 year later.

But were these games any good? Cause Pokemon games don't sell only because of the brand, they are awesome games. I'm not saying this Digimon idea is something easy that will generate profit no matter what, but is it feasible? I think so. They'd have to do some work, cooperate with other companies, but it could help them establish a brand targeted at kids. And it's just an idea after all.

You'd probably have a better shot with a new IP honestly.  Despite the similar names, digimon actually was quite different conceptually and would play different as a game.

Maybe a reboot of the Dragon Quest Monsters franchise.  The first one sold like 2 million in Japan.

Oh, very funny. I see what you did there.

i say about the same as last year unless a price drop happens and a solid holiday line up.

I don't understand why the price of vita is higher than the price of ps3 here in Portugal - Europe

They are crazy!!!

Dragon Quest franchise would be cool, but as we see it's too late. I think they will try to make a shot at this with Invizimals. We'll see how it works, pity it won't be exclusive but PS3/PSV multiplat from the start.

C'mon Sony, do something for the West! Bring the price cut, pay 3rd party developers for games. Vita needs a Bioshock, TES, Dragon Age, The Witcher, GoW, GT, etc. We also need all the jRPGs to be localised - Sony should just suck it up and pay for this.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
