I saw a post with Nintendo fans wondering if it was their fault as to why third parties found Nintendo to be less desirable. I found it to be sad and really lacking in a true understanding of why Nintendo is running into these issues. Fans should not blame themselves for a hole Nintendo has been digging for themselves for almost a couple decades now with third parties. Watch these videos to see what I mean. Nintendos issues are majorly their own. There are more videos but I cut it down to stay on track with the point I am trying to make.

(Notice: This is not to bash Nintendo, but rather to paint a picture as to why they find themselves in predicaments.)

Give it another try. It explains why Nintendo couldn't shake its kiddy image, monopolized third parties and eventually based on tech decisions lost third parties and thus their "serious gamers".

Nintendo has been pushing away 3rd party devs for ages now it's their fault not ours.

I get the NES days and stuff. What I do not get GC and above. N64 cartridges were a bad idea, but GC mini disks shouldn't have been THAT much of a problem. (I can semi-understand the Wii though)

GC cd's were specially comissioned to panasonic (I believe, its in the vid doc...havent seen it in a while)  because Nintendo was paranoid about piracy. PS2 and Xbox DVD's could hold multiples in space of what the GC could hold thus making them still superior in third parties eyes even though the Gamecube was more powerful than the PS2.

They do, they just cannot stand people not considering them and option because of the family/kiddy image they wish to maintain. It's a struggle, really.
