Forums - Nintendo - The reason for Nintendos issues with third parties, Sony and gamers (Doc vid)

When I say the SNES was more popular, I meant their core games and games for the family were equally popular on the Wii it wasn't equal at all and the third party titles were not helping anything.

I don't know about that, but I guess it depends on what you consider "core games." Surely Super Mario World was a "core game," right? Wouldn't it be alright to compare its sales to NSMBW? What about Mario Kart?

Barring those, you've got Twilight Princess outselling A Link to the Past, Metroid Prime 3 outselling Super Metroid, Smash Bros. Brawl outselling every game in the SNES library sans 1.

I honestly have not even touched my wii since xenoblade.
Without third party they can't win.

Oh, Nintendo won, they just didnt need to "serious gamers" to do it. If you are battling it out for serious gamers you must have third parties on your side. First party alone will not help. We'll see how the Wii U does long term, but I believe the power of their competitors tech will spell out bad news for multiplat ports.

True..True lol.

Nintendo during the SNES had games for everyone because they had the third parties and they had the Nintendo first party. Most of the core games were made by third parties. I mean yeah, some games like MK had the blood taken out of it to save their family image, but you get the picture. Nintendo makes games casuals and core gamers alike can get into, but third parties tend to push controls in a more complex direction and I believe thats where core games started with the MK's, Killer Instincts, Contra's and teen and up games of that ilk. Games that took a certain level of skill, I guess.

Nintendo never won...They are fighting themselves.

It's basically Sony,Microsoft,Valve. It took 7 years for Nintendo 7 years to catch up to the 360. Once PS4&720 release Wii U will be IGNORED by 3rd party. Gimmicks won't help this time around.

The Wii won this gen dude so that argument isn't debatable. Will the Wii U have the same luck? I highly doubt it. We'll see though. Nintendo positioned themselves right into the western devs bias when the next gen consoles roll around to meet the Wii U. Its going to be a lack of power issue, trust me.

If the Wii won then why is Nintendo dropping the Wii after only 6 YEARS.The Wii is the most unused console this gen.

In reality they lost they are getting no 3rd party support and the Wii U is basically selling worse than the 360 lol,but idc im not here to debate believe what you want.

I think you're gonna get banned pretty fast. If not, it's not fair.

You need an army to hold off all those Nintendo fans from tossing you a salad.

I dont want this to become a fight though. The videos are there if they need it, they can answer the questions better than I can for sure. This group on Machinima do history for a lot of games and companies. Love their docs. I've known about this "issue" since before I saw those docs, but these summarized it better than most places I've read from.
