I heard this tablet has a res. of 1900x1200, a bit disappointed as its not anywhere near the Nexus 10 or the amazing (highest?) ppi on the Xperia Z phone.

I don't think Sony will bring out a Win 8 Pro tablet under the Xperia name, their first one is under the Vaio line.

Higher ppi doesn't always enhance the user experience. Check the Surface Vs Nexus 10 thread. The software needs to be optimized to make use of those extra pixels. So in that way i think the ppi and resolution is fine. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=153323&page=1#

Cool, will have a look at that. I just want the ppi high so I don't see any individual pixels. Its really great on the ipad.

didn't Sony already release tablets (including one with folding design) to compete with Apple and Samsung?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

They already have tablets that failed miserably, so now they waste more money on a failure?

Havent they been making tablets before....?

Yes, this one is the second they made. Anyway, looks nice spcially with, at least, an 1080p display. I hope they keep the design (with a thicker side), it was pretty clever and confortable. Their problems is that they didn't have any special device, that steals the show (Xperia Z is the closest to it). iPad, Nexus 7, Kindle Fire, they have the hability to do it. Sony has to prove that they can stay on the spotlight with their Androids. Doing that, the sales will come.

There's absolutely no chance of them being able to compete with the iPad. What Sony should do is arrange a licensing deal with M$ so that they can make Windows 8 tablets. A Sony Windows 8 tablets is a much more exciting prospect than a Sony Android tablet.

Why would you think Windows Tablet will succeed? Android is a free OS and has lots of app in its store while Windows is paid and can't compete with the amount of apps. Look at how Surface doing.

I still have have my Sony Tablet S...

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Unless they have a new angle introducing another tablet to a flooded market will hardly compensate for their TV division's losses.

2 reasons:

1.) The Android tablet market is already way too crowded.

2.) Windows tablets have Office, which is a massive selling point.

I agree with the first one. But there are Office programs for Android too although not from MS. Not sure anyone would do complex use of Office on his/her tablet. The use will be occasional and any free Office program may just work well.

They should start their own OS call it the "Roid".
