Forums - Nintendo - I think the WiiU is 'doomed' because of the controller.

I actually think the controller is the best thing about the system it's preety fucking amazing. I rarely turn on my TV anymore when playing on my WiiU lol.

The WiiU just needs to catch on like the Wii did, imo Nintendo needs better advertisement for the system.

I don't know, I just really really think it was a big mistake.

Like the dual screens of the DS, or the motion controls of the Wii, or... the ditching of CD's for the N64, the point is, you could be right but you could be wrong we have to wait and see, nintendo hasn't put their first AAA game on the Wii U, let's se what they have and then we call it doomed, or not... patience is a virtue.

I think you're right that I'm calling doomed far too early. To be honest I don't really think it's doomed per say. Maybe a better way of putting my feeling is that I think the new controller is a negative factor and the WiiU will not realise the sales potential it could have had without it.

I understand and that's what i'm talking about, you could be right but what if nintendo comes up with something, you don't have to guess what right now just imagine, something that makes people say wow i didn't know you could do -that- on the Wii U, thats' amazing -- Ultimately, i think the gamepad opens more doors that it closes and creative people are everywhere so let's wait and see, i could be wrong.

ya...the gamepad was a shitty idea...........

oh, i'm typing this ftom my shitty gamepad....off i go surfing the web on my shitty gamepad...

What the...

I think the reason is because it is too weak for a next-gen... even more weak than Wii was.

It is categorically impossible for Wii U to be as relatively weak as the Wii was. Full stop.

Why? I guess Wii U is even more weak than Wii when comparared to the last gen... the Wii was really more powerful than PS2 at least twice... the Wii U is 0.5x better than PS360... so it is relatively weaker than the Wii for this generation.

The only valid comparison to be made here is against Orbis/Durango.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Watching the Laker game, got TVii going, which frees up my iPad to roam on the net.

Actually, the controller is what's keeping me interested in the Wii U. I was getting pretty bored with dedicated consoles in general over the past 2 years or so thanks to the PC, but the Wii U has me excited for newer gameplay methods that you can only have by using the GamePad (Unless the other next-gen consoles add something similar of course).

A new-gen vs. last-gen is valid too... Wii U puts less gap between the last-gen than Wii did... that's true story... I don't need Orbis/Durango to see that.

But that is irrelevant to how the generation will proceed. The relevance of a console's power anymore really only deals with the ease of porting and multiplatting, whether such games can be made.

Edit - Maybe you can say the cost of the controller makes Nintendo to choose a weaker hardware for Wii U.

Didn't you said 1.5x before? Why the change of mind?

I agree but to do that a console needs anything more inovative... Wii have the montion controller but the Wii U seems to have nothing. Do not get me wrong I think the Pad Controller cool and userful but it's not inovative like the motion controlle was to Wii.

Well I eat crows but I think that for now.

It's the same.

Wii U = 1.5x PS360
Wii U = PS360 + 0.5x PS360

Just two forms to say the same thing... Wii U is 1.5x PS360... Wii U is 0.5x (50%) better than PS360... when I use the word better I need to remove the the 1 (100%).
