If they have the Pokémon actually say their names, they should only say them when they first come out of their pokéballs. Having your Pokémon constantly shouting CHU!! PIKA PIKA CHUUUUU every turn will get very annoying very quickly.

What I want most voice-acting wise is an announcer, like in the Stadium games, but only during gym battles. And obviously with a much greater variety of commentary than the one in Stadium had.

I don't think the Anime voices should be added, it would sound awkward and have no affect on me wanting the game even more. The screeches should be updated though. Some are ear-splittingly bad.

you know when making this thread I had actually remembered stadium having the anime voices... but youtubed it to double check and ended up watching a bunch of lets play videos of it :D indeed stadiums noises were really cool, charizards roar was a proper dragonesque roar, I think some of the most offensive gameboy pokemon screams have to be things like Jynx's noise I mean it goes on way too long and just... yeah painful to the ear.

lol someone actually made a video of it's cry... and it has 11k views wtf, just imagine that in a game in 2013 which looks as nice as X/Y are shaping up to look will be such a shame instead of just the cool Jynxxxxxxx voice from the Tvseries.

I registered every single 150 pokemon in the hall of fame to get an amnesia Psyduck in stadium one and never got tired of hearing "DRILL THAT WEAK SPOT" but what you said tho, if it was just the Gym battles and even against the elite four at the end I mean that is just 12 or 20 fights throughout the whole game where the commentators voice would be used. Big amount of work to affect a small portion of the game. Whereas just a simple voice clip in place of the noise they make on appearance and on death now would be used in each fight but not over the top.

I know they have been cleaned up a bit in the later generations but it's still this type of noise in place of just 1-2 sec voice clips being used to make a cool extra lvl of immersion to the game.

They could all make fart noises, or say "Hail Satan" and I would still buy it.

It's a lot of work for a relatively small portion of the game, but it's for all of the most climactic parts of the game. Think of all the extra work they already put into gym battles -- gym leaders and Elite Four members have unique character models and personalities, something very few NPCs get in Pokémon, the gyms themselves show effort in their design and appearance, especially in the second halves of the games. Not to mention the two unique battle themes gym leaders share. A lot of work already goes into gym battles to create the right atmosphere and make them suitably epic. It wouldn't be much of a stretch to think they could put more effort into that part of the game.

And after all, it wouldn't make much sense to have an official offering commentary for your spur-of-the-moment scuffle against Joey's Ratatta on Route 6. It would feel unnecessary. But imagine not even knowing there would be commentary, then starting the first gym battle, and it kicks in. It would just be a nice touch.

*Throws Pokeball*

Togepi: "HAIL SATAN!!!"

pikachu had voice in pokemon yellow :P he said pika!! :P

well who knows what's going to come outta his mouth when he uses metronome! but yeah... I think that might draw a whole wrong crowd to playing pokemon if they said that :D
