Bullet probably, but my favorite is The Great Escape.

I should put Cool Hand Luke on my list. Maybe.....

Love The Elephant Man, but only get a inkling to see it every ten years or so.

Its The Great Escape, but Papillon and The Magnificant Seven almost made my list.  Still have to rewatch Bullitt the first time I watched it I wasn't too expressed execpt for the famous chase scene.  As for The Elephant Man I only watched it all the way through about three times so I'm with you about it being a movie that you probably only want to watch once in a while.

My next movie shouldn't be too hard to guess. It plays out mostly under water by a director that has already appeared on my list.

Somebody else already guessed it but it has to be Das Boot since Wolfgan Peterson also directed The Neverending Story.  It will also show up on my list and I still want to watch the orginal uncut version of the film.

Yep it's Das Boot. Quite a change to go from that to The neverending story.
I watched the director's cut, at almost 3.5 hours. I read that the uncut version mostly adds more on the monotony of life on board the submarine. It's claustrophobic enough for me. Great film that draws you in, best submarine movie I know. And it puts all those German lessons I had to sit through in high school to some use.

Better than The Hunt for Red October or Crimson Tide?

Yep, I like Das Boot better. Modern submarines have a totally different feel. Das boot is a bunch of kids stuck in a tube trying to survive while realizing what they got themselves into and what for. Much better then Hunt for red october or Crimson Tide.

I can't remember the name of the first submarine movie I saw. I saw it in the early 80's on tv. A submarine sinks at the beginning of the movie and the men on board try to survive waiting for rescue. It was quite terrifying at a young age, the water rushing in, leaking doors, people drowning. It gave me a few nightmares. I think the few survivors eventually got rescued after the rescue crew cut a hole in the side of the submarine to get them out.

I need to force myself to watch more old classics. I usually buy one or two when at the Half price book store, but now I am getting to the point where I see them and I know I will just put off watching them. So today I bought Stakeout with Emilio Estevez instead of My man godfrey.

@ SvennoJ

Yes, I still mostly buy VHS if I can. Newer movies are only DVD.

I watched My Man Godfrey once its a pretty good movie definetly one of the best movies from the 30's.

Even though German is my native language I prefer watching it in English.  Its actually one of the best English voice tracks of any foreign movie since most of the actors actually dubbed their own voices.

@spurge: that's got to be Predator :)
