what was the prediction nintendo did for Wii U? was 5mil by 31 march? i think it was but not sure...
if that is what nintendo is expecting, i guess they will miss it. but 3DS will keep them happy...

Nintendo always surprises you. The WiiU could rise like the 3DS did

3DS was saved via the combination of a major price cut and a mario game. that will be harder to due for wiiU.  3DS had a large margin for price cut while wiiU is already being sold at a small loss.  a significant price cut any time soon means nintendo will be taking "ps3 like" losses.  and wiiU already has a mario game.

not saying that can't "save" wiiU.  just saying that unlike the 3DS, the path to save wiiU is far less obvious.

Why does Wii U need saving? It's sold about 2.5 million units in six weeks. That's more than PS3 and Xbox 360 sold in the first six weeks, and those systems crossed 70 million.

It's been six weeks, that's it. Monster Hunter hasn't launched. Mario Kart hasn't launched. Smash Bros. hasn't launched. Wii Sports hasn't launched. Donkey Kong, Metroid, Animal Crossing, and many others haven't launched.

I don't understand why so many think it's in danger of flopping.

PS3/360 sold so much because they have amazing 3rd party support. Wii U doesn't.

BTW, Monster Hunter already launched in Japan where it is actually releavnt.

Wii U numbers are HORRIBLE. It is selling BELOW 6 and 7 year old consoles, and these numbers will only get lower the coming weeks.

That's completely normal for a new console at launch. We've been over this enough times. The Wii U is selling faster than the 360 or PS3 sold at launch... if its numbers are HORRIBLE, theirs were CATASTROPHIC. If the PS3 and 360 could go on to sell 70m+, then looking at these numbers, the Wii U can do the same or better.

80 million doesn't sound so HORRIBLE to me.

lol

PS3 outsold 360 in week ends:

+ 8th Dec 2012
+ 1st Dec 2012

Amazing.

There is something I don't understand.

VGChartz was overtracking the PS3 by 300K. PS3 was 72.4M before adjustments, now it's 72.1M. Ok.
But PS3 sold 300K this week. So why it's not at 72.4M ?

PS3 was adjusted 600k down and not 300k.

Oh... I thought it was 300K...

Until the next adjustments

I agree.... seem like PS3 is undertracked in Europe.

just a quick reminder

5th January 2013 first week after Xmas for WiiU release year = 135k sold for a total of 2,4 mil
6th January 2007 first week after Xmas from PS3 release date = 136k sold for a total of 1,4mil
7th January 2006 first week after Xmas after the XBox360 release = 117k sold and 1,3 mil in total

Was that flop? Did Sony or MS do something quick and massive to change that?

Plus a minor difference: Nintendo has the 3DS in beast mode and Wii and DS keep bringing profit in... not everything feels doomed from Nintendo to me... any comment???

I am happy to have a Wii U selling on pair of XB360 and PS3!

Wii U wont' get the amazing 3rd party support PS3/360 got.

Wii U isn't selling on par with PS3/360. It's selling below.  PS3 is selling more than double this week.

The opposite.

But you would say that because your annual lifetime predictions is looking ridiculous.  Your 10 week ones..... Good grief?

I'm pretty sure PS3 is under in Europe.

People making solely Wii U comments... stop it. Everything is selling crap except for 3DS, which somehow is only slightly down from its usual in North America and Europe, way up in Japan.
I think we all know why the Wii U didn't sell very much in North America and Europe, and it doesn't have to do with "it has no 3rd party games/no games." It has to do with a lot of people not spending money after the holidays. Almost EVERYTHING is slow this time of year in North America (and possibly Europe as well). It's best to start looking at it once the market has recovered from the holidays, now is a bad time to look at how things are doing. All we can do is speculate.
