Yeah. Europe numbers too high. Expect further adjustments as time passes and numbers become apparent.

I'm not sure about that... I think Europe is low for almost all consoles.

i bet if Xbox was winning in europe you wouldn't have said that.

But logically he or me wouldnt think that. Compared to other holidays the gap just seems too big.

I am wondering if VGCHARTZ will redesign their extrapolation formula or expand their retailer information channel.

We understand that VGC is a free and non-pro tracking site, so we don't expect the data is going to be 100% accurate. But this kind of huge over-track or undertrack issue will destroy the credibility of this site step by step and will make gamers stay away or leave this site. If this continues, the weekly chart discussion will become more and more pointless.

I really wish VGC improve it because I really love this site.

The reports of sales in the major international market (USA) are finally based on what NPD analysis come up with. So they inturn depend on figures dropped in by Sony or MS( where they can only track the actual number of units shipped but not sold to the consumers. This creates disparities as certain sources mislead them for sold and then we have those threads pooling with comments. The NPD tries to release accurate figures of goods sold to consumers from retailers. So  VGC needs to wait for official data to make the adjustments. Although the tracking simply doesn't have to work everytime in their favor some credits need to be given to keep up the overall tracking. Maybe a better extrapolation formula might work out, it doesn't have to guarantee 100% accurate data everytime.

Ps3 is more than likely overtracked by some huge hundred of tousands in Europe for the whole holiday 2012.

Yeah the financials will certainly make interesting reading. I think all 3 will have something positive to say as they all have something in their favour... but overall this could be a rough year for gaming. :(

Really?  I think Sony will just say "WE'RE DOOMED!!!! VITA DOOMED!!!! *seppuku themselves*" followed by Nintendo "DOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!! WiiU DOOOOOMED MARIO NO SAVE US!!!!! *seppuku themselves*" followed by MS "We don't really care we're just gonna give away xbox for free from now on to keep people using our OS"

Weak European sales for Wii U were guaranteed after they announced the pricing, and once software pricing became clear, it was just confirmation that the Wii U wouldn't perform well in Europe.

In the near future I expect Nintendo to drop the basic, and lower the price of the premium to the basic price. Those American figures are weaker than expected and Japanese figures slightly better than expected. Nintendo need to stop being so bullish with their expectations, too: constantly revising your unit sales estimates down is not good business.

Pikmin 3 needed to be quarter one, really, to give more of Nintendo's base in Europe a reason to adopt Wii U, and Q2 releases while not nailed down, should at least be announced. The fact Wii U releases disappear after March with the exception of Pikmin 3 for Q2 and Bayonetta 2 for some point in the future is not a good signal to send to prospective customers, especially in your historically weakest home console market.

For anybody comparing the WiiU to 360 or PS3........no point.

WiiU can sell 1 console every week and thats still more then its intended competitors are selling (PS4 and next Xbox).

WiiU can sell whatever it can until it catches its stride. Its called a headstart for a reason people....

Was skimming through the Top 100 USA chart and I noticed this:

#23 - Fallout New Vegas (Xbox360) - 16,786 - 1,882,721 - 116

Impressive!

Not that dramatic, the problem is in the "rest of he world" numbers on the main page. For some mystical reasons, PS3:360 numbers constantly appear as 2-3:1, completely unreasonable, and usually leading to PS3 down adjustments when shipping numbers are all in.
