From his perspective: http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/exclusive-so-much-for-the-libertarians-how-ukip-sacked-me-after-i-said-i-support-equal-marriage-8444121.html

"Ukip were the only party I believed in and trusted, I thought a party that campaigned for democracy and free speech would advocate something similar for its members, especially the youth wing. I feel let down and naive. I have always wanted to believe Ukip is the libertarian party it says it is, but with socially conservative candidates getting away with comments that many find abhorrent whilst libertarian members like myself get heavily attacked I can no longer convince myself it truly is. While Ukip is the only party fighting for true freedom and democracy on issues like the EU when it comes to Equal Marriage Ukip is on the wrong side of public opinion and the wrong side of history."

I find myself agreeing with the guy. I fully support equal marriage, and it's one of the few areas in which I fundamentally disagree with UKIP's stance. Moreover, Farage (the leader) claims that it's a party of free thinkers, so opposing a fairly minor party belief should not be sufficient to overturn a vote of 62% and fire the chairman of your youth wing.

Not only is it shameful that this party is clearly against marriage choice and equality, but also that it claims to be libertarian party despite such repressive actions. I used to think neutrally of this party, but after hearing about this and the UKIP member who wanted to make abortion compulsory for those who are likely to be born with downs syndrome. They don't do deserve the extra public support they have been getting recently, such beliefs make UKIP increasingly look like yet another BNP or golden dawn, both of which are neo-Nazi parties. Luckily such a party will never be elected because of the first past the post system.

please dont call it marriage "equality" its not. Call it homosexual couples marriage. there's nothing "equal" about supporting that, as it leaves out so many other forms of marriage.

the title and the poll should be revised. i would suspect a great number of people who support homosexual couples marriage, do not support actual marraige equality

He is wrong on one thing. Public opinion isn't in favour of equal marriage. People couldn't give a rats arse about it.

There are FAR more important things for politicians to be sorting out.

My opinion is that "Marriage" has nothing to do with equality.

Honestly, the only reason they can't write down a bill and pass it in a week is that people are insisting it inhibits religious freedom not to give marriages despite the fact that it says quite clearly that nobody has to give a ceremony they don't want to give.

It's really just a common sense matter that will make some people very happy, improve equality all around and really not affect very much otherwise. It should not be taking this long or causing this much debate.

You're right.

Changed the poll.

Reminds of a case where some Filipino boxer or model wasn't allowed to visit a mall or a shopping centre for opposing gay marrige...

I agree with marriage equality... but i also agree with UKIP firing the guy.

I would think you would want to have people who generally agree with party stances be in key party roles.

Changing there stance would be better... but as long as they have said stance it makes sense to fire the guy.

Incorrect. It would conflict with the law that says you can't discriminate based on sexual orientation, specifically, when providing a good or service (marriage ceremony). As the churches would clearly be denying the 'sale' because of orientation it would be illegal.

If religion is a suitable legal reason for discriminating, then I hereby invent HateBlackPeopleIsm, whereby my shop doesn't serve people with dark skin because it is against the decree of our holy scripture.

if someone wants to isolate an entire customer base because of their hate they should be allowed to unless its publicly traded. That's my opinion.

I am arguing current UK law here.
