Gen 2 or Gen 1. Take your pick.

Soul Silver is the best game in the Series.

Despite all this, my favourite Pokemon is Sceptile.

And so, they are hereby given my vote.

Don't forget the 16 gyms, shiny pokemon and daily events. Gen 2 was the biggest improvement in the franchise.

Gen 3 did a lot for competitive purposes, but the pokemon you used to beat the story mode were useless against other people because it wasn't possible to change their EV spreads, and getting the right combinations of natures, abilities, etc was a pain in the ass.

My favorite pokemon game is Emerald, so 3 it is.

Generation 5 is the one I'll go back and play but the one that had the biggest impact was generation 2. If we go by quality based on today it goes like this

1. Gen 5
2. Gen 2
3. Gen 4
4. Gen 1
5. Gen 3

I grew up with generation 3 so that tells you its awfulness. Sorry if I offended anyone

I loved Gen 2, I had played Red/Blue but Silver was when I really started to love the series. And the remake incorporated all the great things from Gen 3 and 4.

Defenately looking forward to Gen 6 though!
