Gen 1 > Gen 2 > Gen 3 > Gen 5 > Gen 4

Gen V is the bestest.

No love for gen 4.... Well it did help with mechanics but i only own two pokemon from that gen

Gen 1 > Gen 2 > Gen 3 > Gen 5 > Gen 4

Those of you voting for the later ones were obviously too young to remember how great the first two were. :P

I will have to go with gen v. So many awesome Pokemon like Reuniclus, Sigilyph, Ferrothorn, Haxorus, Excadrill (before his unfortunate ban) And we can never forget how awesome re-useable TMs are.

And the metagame has been tweaked in all the best way, annoying suicide leads are barely used (subsequently there is a, at least, little less sr and focus on entry hazards in general from my observations), DW abilities (hell a lot of my favourite pokemon got tremendous buffs from it: Dragonite, Espeon, Slowbro, Tangrowth, Nidoking), a lot of new standard play-styles with the new perma weather-inducers, a lot of significant new moves and buffed moves/abilities which made more pokemon viable (more so than past generations). The metagame also shifted from the stupidly fast paced Gen IV metagame, my favourite playstyle in stall is even more effective now :)

Gens I and III are close by, Pokemon Red and Blue define nostalgic for me, especially those charmingly horrendously outdated sprites. Plus I find RBGY's thematical elements the best in the series, and the metagame was stupidly broken that is became awesome (agility+wrap anyone?). Gen III, without doubt had the best, most diverse overworld in terms of geography (except for the huge amount of water areas) and might be close to my favourite metagame.

Gen II also gets crazy nostalgia bonus points from me, you know, the whole Johto/Kanto cross-over, and the Red fight is awesome. But the metagame sucked. Not as broken as Gen I, but ironically way too stall centric for me.

I like Gen IV the least...

Semi~agreed... Each Gen brought something better/more competitive like Abilities, Typing with Phy/Special, etc. But gen 1 will always be my fav.. Why??? OLD SCHOOL lol
