Forums - Nintendo - 'Crysis 3' not coming to Wii U due to lack of "business drive"

Black Ops II on WiiU has only managed 160k, Crysis isn't anywhere near as popular.

There is no money to be made from it. Pretty simple.

Now I wonder why this post was ignored?

This is the truth people. Porting it to WiiU in 2013 makes no business sense. Plain and simple.

Those resources are better placed elsewhere.

It's a very front-loaded game that released on a console that had a very small install base after everyone who wanted it had already bought it.

Give me a synchonized release, when the Wii U has a compable install base and then we'll talk.

It also requires Nintendo to put in the effort to create that userbase though, just as Sony and MS did.

I know people who think it's a lot of fun, I mean like our good old mod Trash, he just finds it fun from a graphical/processing perspective on what you can do with it.

Off topic but...

Just to be clear, I loved Crysis 1 (yes, the gameplay). I thought Crysis 2 was atrocious and fits the image that many have for the series (all graphics, poor gameplay). But the funny thing is Barozi is opposite to me in liking Crysis 2 while not being overly fond of Crysis 1. So yeah, people actually do like the gameplay of the Crysis series for various reasons.

That's not even true. I really like Crysis 1 >.>
Crysis 2 is just more linear (and with some ugly AI bugs), but more diverse and better at storytelling.

Gun play is essentially the same and that's still the main part of the game, so I still don't understand why you dislike it so much.

That last part is very debatable, since third party games are mainly what sold those systems.

But anyways, Nintendo only needs, like 10 million sold consoles and a synchronized release for the next CoD to theoretically sell decently on it.

So we've established that everyone has low expectations for third parties. Good.

Over a hundred posts and still not a single "unprecedented support" crack?

I swear we discussed it at some point. That we only have the rumor of EA's laughable "Origin for your entire online platform or i'll pack up my marbles and go home" deal, but it is obvious that something happened very much like that. When "unprecedented support" drops to "feature-gimped Madden and FIFA, with a deliberately sabotaged version of Mass Effect 3," well, there you go.

@bolded yeah they didnt want their game to sell and make them money.

do you listen to yourself?

They don't, because then they can point to ME3's piss-weak sales and say "see? No reason to put anything from BioWare on Nintendo platforms again."

If it wasn't deliberately sabotaged, it's because EA is stupid enough to:
A: Release Mass Effect 3 as a late port without doing something to compensate, like putting all DLC on-disc, and

B: Announcing Mass Effect Trilogy *before* ME3U's release, for THE SAME PRICE as ME3U.

So they're either stupid or they're doing that on purpose. Either way, i'm right.

You said that third parties can't be responsible for building a market. Ergo, third parties aren't responsible for leadership or outside-the-box thinking. Thus, low expectations.

Yes, but it can't be denied that shooters sell the way they do on PS3 because Sony put in the effort as well to grow that userbase right from the get go and continue to do so.

Nintendo had Call of Duty on the Wii. They should have built on that with 1st party offerings to try and further establish a shooter base.

I am just saying that everyone is quick to blame EA for not bringing Crysis 3 to WiiU, meanwhile bringing Crysis 3 to WiiU makes no sense at all for EA.

Building a shooter market.

Nintendo built a fitness market and 3rd parties followed. Nintendo built a party games market and 3rd parties followed. Nintendo  built a platformers market, 3rd parties followed.

Nintendo doesn't seem to want to build a 1st person or 3rd person market, so why would 3rd parties do it for them? Especially if they have enough of a market to work with already on PS3, 360 and PC?

Until Nintendo puts in the work as well to built that market, them don't expect to see them until the WiiU userbase grows.

Right. Saying that third parties shouldn't be expected to build a market is implying that they can't build one.
