So they should stop making R&C because it is stale and repetitive, and the solution is make a another shooter?
If anything shooters have gotten even more stale and repetitive, not to mention a completely over saturated market for that genre.

Oh hell no captain Qwark is an ass who would sell his own mother to get the spotlight. I actually laughed at his funeral in R&C 3. |
Hahahaha I know that but he is just tooooo funny, it wouldn't be a serious game!

It's not generic. What about it is generic? Just because it's a team of special agents with advanced alien tech doesn't mean it's generic. The game looks fun, the characters seem cool, and the setting is interesting. I'm so tired of people accusing everything of being generic. Halo, Killzone, Crysis, Gears of War, are not generic yet I've seen countless attacks on them by snarky jRPG lovers who think anything with a space marine is some kind of blight on gaming. You know what seems generic to me? jRPGs with their teenager heroes, spikey hair, and giant swords. But they aren't generic, I'm just less interested in them than other games so I don't look deeper. You know what really is generic, those bargin bin games you see piles of at Walmart. The ones you've never heard of with titles like "Horse Trainer" and "Farm Simulator 2012". Those are generic. Unique does not equal better and tropes do not make things suck. Oh and the title "Fuse" isn't generic either. How many games have used that word for the titles before? I think the number is pretty low. It refers to the game's weapon mechanics which Insomniac has tried to get the word out on. But sadly too many Sony fanboys are upset that it's not a PS3 exclusive so the game gets poo pooed by at least one person every time it gets mentioned. |
The characters seemed cool before they changed the name to Fuse... now the main guy is overly generic.

I consider myself a Sony fan but it would be hard to find anyone (apart from you it seems) that is actually interested in this game, from the reaction I've seen on youtube and gaming forums it's apparent that people don't like the look of this game, search it up yourself there is a staggering about of hate for this game.
This game will sell less than resistance for sure.

Sony will just assign R&C and Resistance to some other internal studio. Fuse looks great. It looks much better now then it did when they first debuted it. I'm glad they'll be able to reach a broader audience. No 3rd party developer should do anything other than multiplatform games. |
Is that your guess or do you have a source for that? Last I read, and it was a long time ago, Insomniac said they intended to continue their relationship with Sony even while making multi-platform games. The implication seemed to be that they'd still develop Sony exclusives now and then. Could just be lip service, of course. Only time will tell.
On topic, I think Resistance has a lot of potential, but it might be best for Sony to let it go in favor of a new FPS property. Misteps were made both by Sony and Insomniac that kind of killed any momentum going forward. As far as R&C, I'm betting that the series has sold a lot more downloadable copies than a lot of other games. I don't think raw retail numbers do it justice.

While I did like the look when it was Overstrike, Fuse still looks good to me.
Also, people seem to forget that All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault were both made by the North Carolina studio for Insomniac and not their Burbank studio (which is their main one). The last R&C game their main studio made, which was A Crack in Time, was highly praised as one of the best R&C games.
I'm a huge fan of Ratchet and Clank so them continuing to support the franchise does not bother me. In fact I think it's great that they still make games for it even though they're now with EA. I'm hoping the PS4 will have another full-fledged R&C adventure.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
I am completely lost when it comes to Insomniac these days. The way things are looking right now I fear for their future. Fuse looks like a dud, and its looking to launch on PS3/360 when the PS4/NXB are arriving. That seems like a scary move to me, because the people that will take a chance on a new franchise like this will be spending money on the next gen platforms.
I would prefer if they started spacing Ratchet and Clank releases out. The franchise is still very likable, and has potential left, but it needs more than a year between releases. Personally, anything that arrives on a yearly schedule grows old to me.
Resistance was a weird franchise. R1 was amazing, then they just shit the bed with R2, and now that they fixed so much with R3, yet they are ready to end it. Like a said, their business moves are just unexplainable right now.
