Forums - Website Topics - Nintendo software sales massively undertracked?

Because thy don't know where the error is I guess. Where do you want them to lump 140m units for the DS? Do you want them to guess?

Software tracking isn't that great here outside of the bigger games.

Just dump 'em all on Zelda Spirit Tracks and we won't talk about again .

Around the Network

Most of what VGC has tracked seems about true to life.
Like others have said though, DS is under.

Yes they are especially certain games on the Wii U. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate figures makes no sense especially when you compare its miiverse community to its NSMBU community in Japan alone.

We get Japanese numbers from Japanese trackers though, so they are definitely not over or undertracked.
This does not include eShop sales though, but since you compare it to the miiverse community of another game that is also available on the eShop, it means that sales are correct and MH3U players are more online focussed than NSMBU players, which is no surprise.

NSMBU prompts you to post to miiverse more than any other game. As a matter of fact i have not come across any other game that prompts you to post more than NSMBU. Why is the tracking more accurate because they are Japanese?

Because there are three seperate tracking companies that all have almost identical sales for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. 2 of which are very well respected among all forms of media. Japan sales tracking are unarguably the most accurate by far because of this.

No matter how you look at it, NSMBU is a heavily casual, none online focused game. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is a core heavily online focused game. It makes perfect sense that their miiverse to sale ratios will be very different.

Thing is I don't have any Miiverse numbers, so it would help if you could clarify if MH3U has a higher miiverse to sales ratio than NSMBU or vice versa.

Again Japan has their own software tracking services that put out precise numbers every single week. VGC waits for these numbers to come out and then posts its own Japanese numbers which are up to 95% indentical with the Media Create/Famitsu numbers.
Those tracking services cover almost the whole Japanese market, so they are very very accurate.
