Animal Crossing really has done a phenomenal job over in Japan. It's even trending ahead of Wild World.

Quite impressive if I do say so myself!

Is VGChartz updated? with these numbers?

I believe they are since this is likely based off of Week 51 of Japan Sales.

Sales are crazy. Considering how quickly it blew past New Super Mario Bros 2, I feel like this has a very good chance of being the best selling game in Japan this generation. But I have a question about the digital sales. Didn't it sell so well digitally because physical copies were completely sold out. Just wondering because this is such a huge difference from the typical physical to digital ratio of 3ds games that we know of.

Will this silence the "Nintendo is doomed" crowd? Finally, once and for all?

No...no, I know the world.

The game has been sold out a couple of times, but some people bought it digitally because this is a game you would have on your 3DS all the time (or a majority).

This is interesting, I can understand the convenience of downloading the game but I also like to have the physical game cartridge/disk and box/manual. So I'll probably keep to buying physical games for now but that hasn't stopped me from buying games that are only downloadable.

Also Have: Atari 2600, NES, SNES, PS1, N64, PS2, Wii, GB, GBC, GBA, DSLite, DSi, Android (RazorMax), iPhone (4), iPad (2)

Maybe people are just too lazy to go to the stores lol

Though personally, i am more pleased by Iwata recognising that download version of game dont sell as good without a price cut in general. At least they get that part.

That's an optimistic way to see it. To me it sounds more like he's saying, "Look, our games sell great even at this price! Guess there's no need to reduce it, then."

I have to imagine that much of that 500k results from the lack of physical cartridges available for purchase. Still, 2.3 million so quickly is an impressive feat!

If NoA does well and Europe, there's no reason this game wont get around 12-15mil lifetime!
