MS over shipped in 2011. Nintendos results for the yr. 2011 has Sony as the won winning 2011. yes Nintendo tracks rival consoles and reports on them.

the evidence in that Sony shipped 70m just 1 month after MS did in 2012. and the gap between the 2. if MS would have outsold Sony in 2011 the gap between the 2 would still be 2.5-3m.

use vgc europe, and Japan numbers from 2011, and NPD for U.S. 2011. if you do all the math Sony outsold MS in 2011. 

MS would have to be massively down yr over yr. for 2012 for that to happen, and based on MS 2011 14.9m shipped and Sony 14.1m shipped.

if you use either as sold then MS is down 4.1m from 2011 and Sony 2.1m. the math isn't there. i've never seen a console that was well supported be down by near 4m units WW.

the numbers we have right now make more sense.

MS sold 13.3 2011 means they are down 2.8m for 2012

Sony sold 13.9m 2011 means they 1.9-2m for 2012

I don't think it's Nintendo hate as much as shortsightedness. People look at WiiU sales and instantly compare them to PS360 since they are side by side, without taking into account all the factors like the cheaper price, or the infinitly greater amount of games compared to WiiU thus far, or they'll compare it to the Wii launch, which we all know was just insane and cannot be matched by anything else anyway.

PS3 beats X360 this year by 1.4 million units.

If there are no adjustments and the gap between the PS3 and the 360 grows by 25%, then the PS3 will have outsold the 360 come this time next year.

After adjustments the gap will be near 1.6 or 1.7 million.

I agree, though both systems will be adjusted down (just not so much with the PS3). So it'd still have to have another year like this one to outsell it. If the 720 comes out early-ish (October) then I see it doing it, if not or if the PS4 also launches worldwide then I see it falling painfully short, and will pass in January 2014.
