Forums - Sales - Global UP! 29th December (HARDWARE ADJUSTED)

Wow, I just noticed, the PS3 outsold the 360 by about 150k, was it llike that last year?

Does the Japan boost end next week or the week after?

Speaking of Japan, does anybody know the name of that arcade game where there was a plastic figure of a ladies butt on the cabinet, and you had to grab it at the correct time in the game? I think I saw it it EGM magazine years ago.
Why do the Japanese make such weird games? LOL!

Vita has more games announced for Japan in the first few months then the entire previous year. But it needs a strong price cut if it wants strong sustained sales.

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

Europe up!

Psyberious > actually you seems to forgot that PS3 was out later. And each year PS3 was already closing the gap.

Bluray player was one of the reason that PS3 had a high price, not sure if it helps at first. And I think it will be above 360 before 720 is out. Whatever it will be second one day or another I think we all know that...

Edit: Surely there's an error in UK numbers. 89k for the 360 version alone?? I don't think FC3 was #1 in the official UK charts, was it?

Yes, It was.

"Ubisoft end the year on a high as ‘Far Cry 3’ (-5%) claims No1 following continued price promotion, pushing Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ (-48%) down to No3."

Ok, but last week it sold 132k on PS3+360 and this week 130k o.O (only PS3 version drops, 360 version increases :o)

The -5% is combined... so it sold 5% less than last week but you have to sum all versions (PC included).

Vita has more retail titles announced for Q1 in Japan (19) than 3DS has (5).  So if the vicious circle is happening, it hasn't started quite yet.

It helps, however, that the 3DS' lineup includes 3 huge Japanese franchises (Dragon Quest; Dragon Ball; Super Robot Wars), with the big daddy on the horizon (Monster Hunter).

Vita sales will pick up in Japan.  Particular from the week starting February 28th to the end of March, imo.  How high they'll get is another story.  If Persona 4 can spike it up to 35k and Miku can spike it up to 55k then I'm sure we'll be seeing some higher weeks.

Nothing will be sustained until a price cut though.  The sooner the better, particularly for Japan.

True but Animal Crossing ensures that January will be Nintendo's, February will be Nintendo's with the release of Dragon Quest VII, and maybe March with Luigi's Mansion.

It is not about quantity but quality ;)

Sadly, the Vita will not pick up based on the established franchises of the above. Only Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy can save it from its grave.

Vita doesn't need to outsell 3DS to be successful.

You are right but when you okder platform, PSP, sells more than your current platform, Vita, by 3 to 1, I'm sure they aren't too pleased :(

SIGH.
Again, PSP got so much more support than the Vita last year, this year Vita seems to finally be getting the some great Japanese support. I fully expect Vita to start outselling the PSP within the next few months.

But it seems like the PSP this year is still getting more support than the Vita judging by amazon.co.jp pre-orders and game announcements :(

Btw, I got a Vita last week :) +1 sales for Vita was included by me, AC bundle. The screen is really crisp compared to my 3DS XL lol
