2D mario games. I used to love them as a little kid. But they haven't evolved enough since. IMO so many 2d platformers have surpassed them in all aspects but accessability. I really get no more enjoyment playing through new super mario bros U than I do playing Super Mario World. The tacky motion controls and poorly implemented multiplayer are the only difference.
Second place goes to pokemon. The only reason its not behind 2D mario games is because other than Dragon Quest Monster there aren't really any alternatives to pokemon if you want that style of game. But seriously the stagnigation of this series, specifically the mainline games, makes each new Call of Duty seem fresh.
Its surprising really, when you consider how much work nintendo puts into some of its other franchises, how lazy they are with their two biggest ones. Heck maybe thats why those two franchises are their biggest. Some people just want more of the same.
