The mainline FF games haven't appeared on a Nintendo home console since Super Nintendo, so it's by no means something anybody should be expecting for Wii U.  If it were to happen, it would be a very significant change for Square Enix.  I think Wii U will get the Dragon Quest X port, maybe some kind of Kingdom Hearts remake or port, and then mabye one or two of those DQ Monsters or FF Chocobo games.

They never appeared on Xbox so what's your point? Fact is the series is multiplatform now and would sell on Nintendo's platform it wouldn't be a siginificant change like you claim it would just be Square being Square, the industry has changed and that's what a number of people are factoring or can't fathom, this isn't the PS2 era.

FFXIII was only ported to 360 outside of Japan, because 360 had outsold PS3 and the target audience was nearly identical.  I don't think an unproven Nintendo console owned mostly by Mario and Zelda fans is anywhere near the same situation.  If Wii U ends up selling really well, it may get a port of a main FF game, but it won't happen right out of the gate.  Too much risk.

What rubbish so an unproven MS console owned by Halo and COD fans is less of a risk? The audience on PS3 is not the same as the 360 even back then you know why, no FF fan would of bought a 360 because it was still believed to be PS3 exclusive in fact fans of eastern games were mainly on PS3, FFXIII on PS3 still outsold the 360 version in the west, who do you think owned the SNES and NES non Mario and Zelda fans your logic is all over the place, XIII was ported because the market changed and SE wanted to bring it to more people to make up for development costs.

It also shoots down your earlier notion of performance in all 3 regions as even with weaker sales XIII-2 still made it to 360 even with out a Japanese release.

False. 360 got a port exactly a year later in Japan. 360 got a port because MS paid for it.

Ok, first thing you are ALL just thinking on Square-Enix as a Japanese only company, but you have also to remember that they bought Eidos and there are some good franchises to put into the Wii U

Second there is support comming from them, but not so direct, remember this piece of news:
http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/15/report-major-square-enix-game-receiving-wii-u-port-by-mass-effe/

The developers of the Mass Effect 3 port for Wii U are working on another port for the console of a Square-Enix game, japanese game? or Eidos game?

My guess on that one is Tomb Raider, honestly. I don't think SE would let an outsider touch one of their more recent main-series games for port work (although older games have been done by second parties, like when Final Fantasy III went to DS).

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

DQ > FF in Japan, SE will definitely put more on Wii U and 3DS...provided DQ doesn't bomb. You don't spurn a console by giving it your best IP for the market. So I'm sure SE has plans for Nintendo. But please no FFXIV, every time I walk by my collector's edition copy my heart aches a little. All that anticipation, built a new rig, constant testing with the damn FFXIV score which led to multiple upgrades....even bought an adaptor for my xbox360 controller so I could use it on my PC for this game. After setting up fifty five accounts on 99 servers to be able to log in and find...........This ain't no FFXI sequel! This is Phantasy Star Universe with FF graphics!

You do know about the new engine for FFXIV: ARR, right? It's WAY more efficient with older systems. 1.0 struggled quite a bit on my laptop, but ARR ran flawlessly on it (I was in Alpha). Plus 1.0's engine was seriously flawed as it was not finely tuned to run efficiently on PCs, so it required higher end systems. That won't be the case for ARR. Since you registered the original 1.0 with SE, you will be getting ARR free of charge and sent to you on email when it releases Anyone with a registered FFXIV account gets a free ARR digital download. AND if you got the CE of 1.0 registered, you get the CE for ARR free as well.

Yeah I do have a CE registered.  Thanks!  I was so disappointed with 1.0 I just deleted any emails from SE.  But if they only improved the engine...we're back to square one.  I could run the game smoothly as it were, but it was the content that was disappointing.  Also, 1.0 lacked the right "mood".  Even fishing in ffxi was fun, the music and the settings made for a very enjoyable experience.  In FFXIV, it just felt like everything was disengaged, vast empty more realistic but less fantasy.....it did away with the long wait at IF [red mage][AF1][Potion] blah blah.  But it also did away with the "need" for what was for me, simply addictating battle dynamics. (((((((((Magic Burst))))))))))!

Once the development team added the jobs to 1.0, the game was getting perfected. The battles were way more enjoyable and it felt like the new beginning of what FFXIV 1.0 should have been. It was setting up for what ARR should be. I will tell you that the battles go by super fast on ARR. Oh, and if you are Archer/Bard, you don't have to worry about buying arrows anymore lol You have unlimited ammo now! That will go for consumables such as ninja tools once they do impliment Ninja in the future, and fishing will not use consumables either. The bad thing that happened when they took out consumables is that they took out 1/10th out of everyone's gil and the in-game economy. I had a bit over 2M gil, but now it's reduced to 200k
