Fact based logic says the 360 will sell more (at first anyways)

also, Americans love this game, and given the fact that 360 owns america for the time being, it will sell more on the 360.

But with so few details about the technical specs and variations of the game, the real question is which version will be better.

We know both have proprietary dev teams, so I doubt very mich that the PS3 will be any worse, like a few ports have been in the past. The PS3 may look better. It may include a Hard drive install eliminating load times just like DMC4 has.

We will know eventually

it's late, and I am tired, but I will try my best to explain it to you.

All the sales figures I found on this little known sight called VGChartz. They have these cool things called "Charts" that allow you to track sales and stuff. It's neat, you should try it sometime.

The Sony costs have come from sources, but mostly Sony. The PS3 cost $800 at launch to make, now it cost $400

The $50 cost delta minus the Arcade I figured out on my own. I would like to thank my 2nd grade teacher for that one.

The only thing up there that's suggestive, is the lineup. You say after 6 months the PS3 has lost it's "lineup" big hitters. Sorry, but most people will find GT, FFXIII, LBP, Resistance 2, and Haze kind of fun.

As for the movie thing. You are kind of talking out of both sides of your mouth. At one point you say no one cares about it, and in another you say the is just as capable because you can DL them. Not sure about you, but I will be getting my 10 Gig 1900x1080 resolution videos free from Netflix. To think that HD losing and Blu-Ray winning has no impact on sales of PS3 vs 360 is nothing more then fanboy blindness. I didn't even mention that you clam the Arcade as "in the picture", and still say "the 360 can DL movies". You must mean only some of them can ;)

I didn't even spell out the biggest argument point, and that's sales trends. Last week, the PS3 outsold the 360 by just under 10%. This week it's just over 10%. if that number continues to rise, it's huge trouble for MS. I got those from VGChartz too if you are interested.

So go live in your fantasy world, enjoy looking up at that picture of Bill Gates you have pined to your ceiling, and I will continue to enjoy my PS3 and 360. (Wile I own both, I tend to turn my 360 on less and less these days, although Mass Effect was great.)

Edit: I mean free from NetFlix because it doesn't cost anymore then DVD's.

When did Sony announce that the PS3 now only costs $400 to make? I missed the announcement.

So PS3 outselling the 360 by 10% is spells the end to the 360. Hmmm. Lets see if the PS3 does 110% of what the 360 does in 2008 and the 360 does 8 million in sales in 2008 that means the PS3 catches up by 800,000. Hmmm that would make them right about even, right? Nope. Just checked that would have the PS3 about 6.4 million behind the 360 still.

We all agree that multiplateform are NOt the better thing to move system OVER another one (PS3 vs Xbox360)

GTA4 is multiplateform game
if we assume it runs the same over the 2 plateforms (stated by R*, let's believe it), then GTA4 should not be decisive on the battle Xbox360 vs PS3
Xbox360 is cheaper but it doesn't have BR and it is older so more people were able to buy it before. We can assume the hardware push will be pretty similar on the 2 system if the 2 version are similar.

BUT, there is a "but"

GTA4 has exclusive content for the Xbox360 only !

You have another but to think about and that is cost of entry. If people are waiting to purchase a this gen system for GTA series as the driving piece of software then the console cost enters the equation.

MS is certainly in the better position to drop the cost of entry to sub $200. No matter how you slice it the 360 has dropped at most $50 on the main SKU and $20 and $30 on the other SKU's. In 2.5 years this is incredible. They can drop the cost of entry easily to the following if they want to.

And I said if the % keeps going up. I was also talking about end of life sales. The PS3 is tracking the PS2 in sales from launch at the moment. I don't know if the PS3 will reach the PS2 sales figures, but if they do, and the 10% becomes 30% over the next few years, they will sell a lot more consoles then MS by life’s end.

Basically, my smartass response was because I feel like every professional sales analyst feels. That the PS3 will outsell the 360 at the end of it's life. For some reason, this guy thought that was akin to thinking the world was flat or something.

No one has a crystal ball and can tell the future, but I will tell you this. If in 5 years the 360 does outsell the PS3, no one is going to look back and attribute it's success to this game. The only way this game is an advantage to the 360, is that it's no longer an exclusive, and has been taken away from Sony as a weapon. It's helped even the playing field, but it has not given any advantage to the 360.

I really think some people will believe stuff like this.

It sounds like microsoft are planning a big marketing push for this though, so hopefully consumers will be able to make informed decisions.

360 version will sell better simply because they are more 360s in the wild right now.

As for how many systems the game will sell for each side, I think it will boil down to the price of the console and the potential purchesee's preference. In the end, DL content will matter little, as only nerds like us that spend all day on gaming forums even know about it.

No console manufacturer has done so, and they most likely never will. You just pulled numbers out of your ass, and pretended they were real.
