That's fair enough however the issue is that what this generation has shown is that the most money is in multiplatform games as you can reach a wider market that way. If you take the craptastic Dead Island, it still sold well over 2 million copies even though it was terrible. If it had been released on just one platform, the sales most likely wouldn't have been nearly as high.
Therefore I do wonder, with that and the technical limitations of the consoles, if exclusives will become a much smaller entity, or if more will emerge on the PC. If we consider that the first UE4 games is a PC exclusive, that's promising, as well as knowing that UE4 required the gtx680 (or there abouts) to run - the kind of power a console won't be able to have.

Yeah but see we are looking at how much something sold.  That doesn't tell us how much money that game made.  You need a company to to publish your games and then they may even provide the tools for you to develope that game.  My guess would be that Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo pay developers more money than what EA/Activision/Ubisoft pays their developers.  Microsoft/Nintendo.Sony also advertises their games better than other publishers. I'm sure their is plenty of perks working under one of the big three or else comppanies wouldn't do it.  And when thrd party games go exclusive, you know they got paid a lot up front. I know Halo, Gears, Forza, Gran Turismo, Mario, Zelda, and tons more has made a lot of money.

Very true.
IMO I think the next gen will see exclusives from consoles developers face off against engine developers. One side wants to promote their console whereas the other want to flog their engine as much as possible across all the platforms e.g. Epic and Crytek.

Personally there's no exclusives that interest me on the consoles as I've played them all before. I really hope the next gen offer some ground breaking games in the same way Prince of Persia or SotC were brilliant. Sadly this news of another kinect isn't filling me with hope - I want VR, not Eyetoy+

I find it funny how 1.25 CPU is slow and 1.6 is fast. Only in the internet... its those 350Mhz that make the difference!

It might be easier for people to say Nintendo is slow and Microsoft is fast! Its about as obvious that theres no logic to it.

3 cores @1.25 is (not a little bit, a lot) slower than 8 or 16 cores @ 1.6
here in the internet and everywhere.

i don't get what is so difficult to understand...

Not necessarly. Depends on the CPU tech. And other rumors pointed out that half of the cores will be used for kinect. So it seems true that all next gen consoles will have similar power.

If that is true then a basic $600-$700 PC will wipe the floor with all the consoles, which is really just someones laptop and console budget combined.

My 3 year old PC hammers the crap out of the Wii U in everyway and it's using yester-years tech e.g. DDR2 RAM and a phenom II. The consoles are going to have to watch out for the steam box if they really think seriously low-clock speeds are going to give them next-gen capabilities.

So much power just to play an exclusive like Farmville. Im happy for you....

World of Warcraft? Starcraft? Diablo? Planetside 2?
All games at a true 1080p resolution?
The bigger, better version of BF3?
DX11?

Almost all MMO's are PC only, something you have forgotten....
Oh wait nah u just jelly ^-^

Nice you spent a lot more money than the rest of us to play 4 relavant exclusive games. Not only that youre actually so superior you felt the need to come here and boast that you have a gaming PC that you can upgrade next year with a video card and RAM more expensive than any console just so you can be on top and boast on more forums that you have the best. Those 4 games were definately worth the price.

I spent more money because I also needed something to do word processing on that ideally wouldn't die in 18 months aka most laptops, plus can also play games.

The advantage is that I get to play games which are cheaper, don't look like shit and run a lot faster & access to a whole world of mods. What I don't get are  a bunch of reworked exclusives that are identical to their predecessors and laughably priced, or watered down versions of games e.g. Battlefield 3.

I never boasted about upgrading my PC.....Someones clearly jelly xD
Also you clearly don't know the price of RAM as a decent set is about the same as a wireless pad....

Either way if the next consoles focus on being small and efficient over being power hungry beasts, gaming will be far superior on the PC then on the consoles. Just take a look at BF3, PS2, or even just DX11.

Yeam im jelly cause youre here boasting about PC superiority. Good luck finding cheaper PC games. Only way you get those games cheaper cause they are old outdated games that are not selling on steam so they put them on special discounts. Good luck paying $2.99 for the original Xbox version of Slpinter Cell. How does that work on Ultra settings? You think you got back your money worth yet? Ohh wait youre going to have to upgrade to a better card and CPU next year if youre going to want to visit more forums to boast and stay relavent. Battlefied is a boring and poor attempt to steal the COD audiance so....... yeah.....

*smh*

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

On PC vs. Console ...

Because they don't have licensing fees and are sold through digitial distribution at a higher rate than console games, PC games generally make far more money per unit sold than console games; but because there are so many more console owners, more games are sold for consoles resulting in more profit being generated from console games.

With how the HD consoles struggled early on, publishers started to ensure that the PC got a version of most games to (try to) recover as much of the high development costs as possible; and this has continued because the sales from PC games result in more money than the cost to produce these versions of games. Unfortunately, people aren't buying high-end gaming rigs as much as they used to, and if Sony or Microsoft produce a bleeding edge system I'm not sure if the PC could provide enough sales of these games to get similar support.

Not boasting but telling you that if the hardware isn't good, a cheap PC will be more powerful then the next-gen of consoles....
Batman: Arkham City £5....
Borderlands 2 £13....
Dark Souls £10...

One is from steam, the other are from legit retailers in the UK (Zavvi & amazon).

Keep on writing your asinine rant as much as it doesn't resemble reality in the slightest...

You're just jelly. Bro.

No one cared if you have a PC with superior specs. You came here and boasted about something that no one cared about. Attempting to troll me with the same slogan over and over wont work as you have already proven youre pretending to be a lot dumber than you probably already are. If you dont like console games stick to your PC and miss out. You will forever be on forums listing your superior specs with less games.

Making a statement without explaining what youre talking about makes no sense. Kindly explain what i dont have a clue about? I have just as much right to post comments here just like everyone else so its pointless telling me to stop with my comments without giving me a logical reason why.

PS: I am as relaxed as ever. I dont know why it is a common trend for people to think they can tell what the other person is doing or feeling on the other side of a computer monitor.

Well first off you keep talking about PC as if  they are thousands of dollars and you have to upgrade them and that is simply not true.   Second off Steam sells games at a discount even if it is insanely popular.  Assassin's creed Revelations, dishonored, and Black Ops II alone has went on sell multiple times since they have been out. PC also has tons of quality exclusives especially in the MMo and RTS categories.  Now if you don't like them that is fine, that is your opinion.  Steam also has I think 8m concurrent users online.  What that means is it competes head to head with PSN and XBL.  Battlefield and CoD are way different and are for different crowds so it's not some copy cat game.  And btw look how long Battlefield has been around before saying it is trying to steal CoD's audience.  Battlefield has had it's own audience for a long time.

Conclusion:  Games are cheaper on PC.  Look at Far Cry 3 for example.  50 not 60.  Steam also offers discounts on a regular basis.  I bought L.A. Noire for $5 and Fable II for $10.  Both were 75% off.  I'd hardly call those games old or say that they don't sell well.  And lastly you don't have to upgrade your hardware every year.

Once again it falls to me to point out what all of you most obviously overlooked. The source for this rumor is very likely a corporate shill in the employ of Microsoft. This is the same individual that tried to auction a development kit for the 720, and is the source for just about every 720 rumor on the web. Yet without any anonymity whatsoever he remains unmolested, uncharged, and free to continue on with his little campaign. In spite of the fact that what he has claimed to have done, and what he has actually done should have landed his ass in some seriously hot water.

At the absolute very least he shouldn't even be in the loop anymore, because he has bragged that he has met with representatives of Microsoft in person. In other words it shouldn't have been that hard for them to back trace the hardware in question, and hang their Judas out to dry. So this guy shouldn't even have a source, and if it was a one man job. He shouldn't still be receiving upgraded hardware from Microsoft.

There isn't anything about SuperDae that doesn't fucking stink. He is a one man misinformation machine. There is nothing he says that you should take seriously at all. Everything he does or says is at Microsoft's behest. He is the modern day equivalent of a double agent. Feeding us the information they want us to have, and giving us false information to hide their true intentions. Hell it could just be a advertising campaign, or market testing to see how we respond to certain ideas. Regardless you can wipe your ass with this information, because that is all it is good for.

This man isn't one of us. He is a marketing gimmick.

1.) I know PC does not have to cost thousands of dollars but if youre boasting like he did then you might as well spend for the best. If he is not spending for the best whats his purpose boasting on forums about having the best and superior experience?

2.) I have a gaming PC and i enjoy games of all genres providing its presented to my specific taste properly. It may not be up to date but its better than last get consoles at least (PS3, Xbox360 and probably Wii U) and you dont see me boasting to have a superior experience.

3.) Battlefield was an attempt to steal COD fans, did you suddenly forget their whole marketing campaign always trying to compare the two? Whether its better than COD or not is up for debate but the COD fans like the arcade shooter experience they are already getting on COD which is why i made the point its a boring and poor attempt to copy COD. They probably never intended to copy COD but they sure as hell tried to compare and sell it to COD fans.

4.) I admit i was wrong about steam games but you have to admit there are a lot of old last gen games there that they try to sell in discount bundles.
