Ok so..
360 - Good sales compared to everything else but massively down YoY
PS3 - Right behind 360. So much for 360 "dominating the holidays"
Wii U - Ok sales in US and Japan, horrible in Europe.
Wii - Rising from the grave. Has a chance to outsell the Wii U next week.
PSV - Zombie. On the bright side, it outsold the Wii U in the UK!
3DS - Great sales WW, but its being outsold by the 360 2:1 in America....

This is pretty much my opinion as well.

I'm pretty sure the price of the WiiU in europe and the "others" region is the main factor contributing to the low sales.

In my region (which is closely related to europe prices) the WiiU is significantly more expensive than the PS3, which in turn is more expensive than the 360 which is significantly more expensive than the Wii.

I was shocked when i saw the price of the WiiU in my country especially after i heard that the WiiU would release in the states at $299 and $349.

Wii was 249$ in the US and 249€ in europe. WiiU is 299$ and 349$ in the US and and 299€ and 349€ in europe. So why is the price a problem in Europe, but not in the US?

SmartPhones are killing Vita.

The raise of Windows Phone wont help either, neither will the oustanding sales of Iphone 5.

Whats the YoY change for each console WW? Sorry to lazy to look through the thread if their is one.

i think this too in Denmark i wound up paying on launch day 2999 DKK(about 400 Euros or 525 US Dollars).

I'm a long time fan of Nintendo so i was happy to let go of that kind of money to have the latest new hardware
from them, but at least where i come from it is not the norm to give Christmas presents this expensive.

400 Euros is a lot of money and one should probably also look at the circumstances of the releases, in 2005-2006 when PSWii60 was launched the Economic landscape was at a much better place compared to now which i doubt is helping the Wii U.

Yeah that is pretty much the same price we pay for the WiiU over here in South Africa ~R4000 which is ~500USD.

This is almost double the price the guys in the states get it. I know doing exact exchanges doesnt really count but its a good indicator of how expensive the item is in other regions.

Besides the cost though...i also think marketing is playing a role. The WiiU doesnt seem to be as marketable as the Wii, and the marketing has yet to be ramped up over here. So maybe when they get that going things will pick up.

Seems like Wii surpassed 98 Million! 100 should be very well reachable!

Nope. 3DS is "killing" the Vita.
Smartphones aren't affecting Vita sales anymore than they are the 3DS.

@VGKing
100% agree!!

Now that i think about it Nintendo are definitely milking the European and "other" markets.

For comparison I'll use the PSV.

The PSV costs 249USD in the states. You could probably get a bundled wifi deal at this price point.

In SA, for that same deal we pay about R2400. Which when converted to USD is ~300USD. So we pay 50USD more than what the people in the states pay, which is reasonable imo.

Now lets look at the WiiU.

The WiiU costs 299USD in the states. This is for the non bundled SKU white version.

We pay R4000 for that same deal in SA. Converted to USD is ~500 which is 200USD more than the cost in the states. I don't get it

Is this just Nintendo compensating for euro/yen exchange rate? Whereas Sony is eating the extra costs? I would understand it if that were the case. But it still sucks for the consumers.

Vita is doing ok but its a bit depressing that the DS still outsells it. PS3 and Xbox surprisingly close again, 3DS good as always. But Japan sales seem abit low except for 3DS for some reason
