For those who think hack have no impact.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

I wish there was proof..  So far they have proven that they can get an image of reggie onto the wiiu screen. I'm no genious but I could do that. Just upload an image of reggie as a youtube video and go to it on the wiiu.  Seems like a joke.

Of course it has impact but how much?

PSX: famous for piracy, games were sold a lot, console was a big success.

PS2: piracy was possible, games were sold a lot, console was the biggest success until now.

Wii: Security was ridiculous resulting in piracy, games were sold a lot, gen-winner.

X360: Several ways to play pirated games, games are selling a lot, 73 mio consoles sold.

PS3: piracy just starting, games sell a lot, console still selling like cookies.

And the winner is:

DS! R4 and you are done. Still selling, sold more than 150 million in 8 years (so even more successful than ps2 when you look at it that way), almost 4000 games released.

So yes, there is impact. But I think the article doesn't get it...

When was your last time you visited their site? They were posting SHA1-keys at their blog. By now, no one knows what they are about but since PS3 we know that keys are vital for a system's security...

It's really not that big a deal, the only thing they have hacked was the WiiMode of the Wii U, nothing more.
Just look at the video they posted: http://www.youtube.com/fail0verflow

No, this is the only thing they hacked and made public. Two SHA1-hashs were found during 29c3. The video you posted is 1 month old...

PS4 is their main target.

Hacked Systems sell.
Nintendo shouldn't do much against it - Especially not challenging the hackers otherwise they will get problems.

well, according to marcan, nintendo didn't strip crucial binaries... intentionally or not is yet unknown, further information will probably arrive soon.
