Forums - Sales - The Nintendo DS really IS the highest selling console of all time

Think about when Microsoft announced 70M X360s sold, VGChartz was way off. Why would anyone assume that they're not off on this one? Their tracking just isn't spot on for any console.

Microsoft announced 70m sold to retailers i.e. shipped. Shipped =/= sold.

Therefor VGChartz is completely accurate.  Nice rationalization.  Show me any recent numbers that this site has tracked on the dot.  Take your time.

They may track PS2, but not accurately. They're probably off my a couple million.

The fact that we don't get weekly PS2 data is proof of that.

The PS2's sales nowadays are so small that they aren't worth tracking. 100 units a week?

Why are some Sony fans so paranoid about the DS overtaking the PS2? We don't know if is true or not, but what's the problem if it is indeed true? Can someone explain me this, I just don't get it...

yea this is so true, It is what it is. Maybe it's a loss of bragging rights or maybe the ps2 in their eyes seems like the true king and offered the best experince for them and deserves the title as number 1.

but the DS probably is i guess the new king and i dont see anything wrong with it.

both great systems,  i dont understand a battle to be fought over it.

There is no battle. There is only a valid discussion (with numbers) about it.

What bothers me is that the few who are discrediting VGChartz are the very same ones who use this sites numbers on a daily bases for their arguments.

What bothers me is when people refuse to see sense. VGChartz numbers are estimates. They are never to be taken as fact. Ever.

Again - This isnt the first time that VGChartz have shown the DS ahead of the PS2. If VGChartz are still tracking the PS2, then how on Earth havent Sony sold out the shipment from NOVEMBER 2011... And if they havent sold it, why the fuck would retailers order another 2 MILLION PLUS consoles after?

The VGChartz numbers make no sense and it amazes me that people who frequently hang out on a site based on sales numbers are blind to the obvious.

Not the first time.

So how is Sony still shipping millions of units each year? Do they ship them to moon?

Well If you use basic logic that should tell you that PS2 sells way more than 100 units per week.
